Magnificent Seven - Boxing Thread

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Magnificent Seven - Boxing Thread

Post by Rosie_titters »

noticed there are a few boxing fans on here, any tips regarding the following 7 fights :box:

Michael Jennings V Kell Brook
Karo Murat v Nathan Cleverly
Carl Dilks v James DeGale
Sam Sexton v Derek Chisora
Enzo Maccarinelli v Alexander Frenkel
Lucas Konecny v Matthew Hall
Matthew Macklin v Shalva Jomardashilli

I've heard of a few of these fighters and think the Sexton v Chisora will probably be the best fight

I thought this was going to be a thread on boxers, rather than matches.

I used to love the sport, but I'm not up to date with it.

So I offer my top seven favourite boxers of all time.....

Sugar Ray Leonard
Ali(aka Casius Clay)
Roberto Duran
George Foreman
Marvin Hagler( beat my schoolbudddy Alan Minter, who I once fought at school)
Henry Cooper (who would have beaten Ali if the cornerman hadn't sliced Ali's glove)
Lennox Lewis

I've left out Mike Tyson, who was more animal than boxer. And a host of other boxers who deserve to be in anybody's top selections.

To me, boxing is the purest sport. Two men go to war. After the match, they hug each other and respect each other.

(No tennis player jokes here, please. Or I'll punch your lights out  :D )

Draw, I think. I was only twelve at the time. And Alan was into Judo before he took up boxing properly. Thank fuck. :D

3. Duran
4. Hagler
5..Salvador Sanchez
6. Mayweather/ Pacquiao?(to be decided)

That is quite some claim to fame Olgit, beats being a Louis Walsh lookalike by a mile!

Was surprised Chisora beat Sexton tonight, but would not be surprised if Chisora meets Haye some time in 2011.
Chisora is an agitated character, and the fight would be a genuine grudge match.

Macarinelli got knocked sparked out, hope he packs it in now - can't believe sky sports had this as a pay-per-view - fucking greedy frank warren, these fights were more under card fights - not main fights - shame on sky - glad i watched them for free on the internet

Glad Cleverley won, he still needs to improve to be a world level though. Was most surprised by how quick DeGale beat Dilks!!! DeGale went up in my estimation on saturday, and a fight with "the saint" is being labelled for 11th Dec, although cant see it happening this year due to politics. Agree Macrinelli should hang up the gloves, he just has total lapses of concentration in fights, and thats when you know its time to quit.

As for the event, so glad I didnt pay for it and watched online as wasnt worth a ppv fee, it didnt even have a world title fight....but i suppose now warrens camp is at it smallest in a long time, he wants to squeeze every penny he can.

Warren is a scum bag, who has had some of Britains best fighters in his greasy, grubby claw - no wonder they all jumped ship - shame Terry Marsh didn't do a bet job and finished the fucker off

Like Adam Booths stance on the "chunky" vs "saint" offer from warren. Warren made an offer to groves with a deadline today. Booth has come back with a offer worth more money for degale if he fights on a hayemaker bill.....nice play Booth. Warren threw a hook and Booth has countered with an uppercut.....lets see what happens.

It is all good hype for when they eventually fight, which I reckon will be for a world title in April/May 2012.
