Thoughts on Vela

Post by Irish Gooner »

I've heard people say he should start the next game (not on here). Now I for one think Vela is an absolute waste of space.

A flat track bully, who will come on when we are 4-0 up against shit and chip in a few one on ones and tap ins.

Now he came on today against a shit side and what did he do? This is what I mean, he's the sort who would look a hero coming on if we were 5-0 up but when the going gets tough he shits the load. He also dives more than any of our players, and if he was good at it , it wouldnt be so bad but he isn't.

He's been here a few years now, never has he looked any different. Look amazing at home in the CC but even away League Cup games he goes AWOL. I thought he was shit last week at the Lane for example.

This guy has had chance after chance, yet he is as near the first team as when he came here. RVP, Bendtner both out for long periods, even then Vela is no use at all.

I didn't see Simpson get this chances, and I personally believe Jay Thomas should be coming on at this stage. He was poor vs Stoke last year but this guy is a different player altogether.

Vela simply never will be good enough to command a regular place. Jay Simpson on work rate alone deserved a chance and never got it

I thought today he was very poor, didn't head for goal once.

Wenger decides to play proabably our best finisher wide on the left wing, not really the boys fault is it.

Eduardo mark 2 im afraid, will never suit a 4-5-1

He hasn't been given 'chance after chance'. Totally disagree there.

He should've started today for example, but Turnip chose to play Eboue instead. :?

Also I think playing him on the wing is doing him no favors. Clearly the lad is a striker, a fox in the box type infact, and looks very uncomfortable playing outwide. He should be played as close to the goal as possible because he'll get you goals.

When he has he scored a goal in a meaningful match?

This tag of the best finisher at the club has to end. And for actual hold up play he is flipping pathetic as we seen at the Lane, he lost every ball.

sell sell sell

We don't play 442 and neither do any top sides.... :?

United do, spurs do, villa do.

All this copying barca bollocks has to stop in my opinion, get back to playing the way we used to win trophies.

Agreed, when given time and space in a game thats already won he looks good. In a nitty gritty game where were up against it he goes hiding.

You won't find many international strikers willing to be 4th choice for you. Why sell?

He's a good option to have around, and he's definitely the best finisher at the club. Can't believe you're trying to deny him that.

Spurs a top side now?

Villa don't , Young plays behind the striker.

United play Berbatov and Rooney sometimes but in big games its 433.

Anyway why do you think playing in a 442 would make a difference? It won't improve his hold up play, finishing or movement.

Sheff Utd. home and he bagged a hattrick.

He's a 4-4-2 player and we should try to change our system when he's on the pitch.

Come on seriously when has he proved he is the best finisher?
The Milk Cup?

And even if he is, why does he never do it against proper sides? I for one don't paticularly rate RVP, Chamakh or Bendtner as top class, but at least they have proven they can finish when needed against top clubs.
