Flamini is our Gattuso

Post by demzy »

MATHIEU FLAMINI has been dubbed Arsenal's answer to AC Milan hardman Genaro Gattuso.

The French ace has been at the heart of the Gunners' surge to the top of the Premier League.

Flamini, who almost left North London in the summer after handing in a transfer request, has formed a formidable midfield partnership with Cesc Fabregas.

With the Spaniard providing the creativity, Flamini has built up a reputation for doing the Gunners' dirty work.

The midfielder's success in that role has lead to his Arsenal team-mates giving him the nickname 'Gattuso'.

Skipper Kolo Toure revealed: "He does such a huge job in midfield. Having such a player in your team is just great.

"Thanks to him, in defence we are rarely put in trouble. That is why we call him Gattuso.

"He is a real marathon runner, he runs everywhere. He has a fantastic heart and fights for everyone.

"He is involved in any clash, but only for the good of the team."

From today's Sun newspaper

I totally agree, he has come on leaps and bounds this season, and we must be gratefull he didnt leave in the summer. ive always rated him.

Good player, versatile, good passing recently to go with his heart, tackling and non stop energy, he is an ideal squad player.

He has a fantastic heart and fights for everyone.

pretty much sums up Matt. Thats why I like him as a player and always have. Though he's impoved his game heart and fight go a long way towards getting the fans on your side, and I think (hope) he's FINALLY done that with the majority.

Titles are won by squads, in that sense, I think he is title winning. As first choice midfielder, don't think he offers quite enough and suspect he will get dropped sooner or later

I remember Arsene saying last season when it was rumored that Flamini was going to be sold, "I do not want to sell him [Flamini] i feel he will play a big part in our challenge for trophies"

Looks like Arsene wasn't joking

Gattuso is Milan's Flaminal more like!

Like everyone else I am suprised how well he has done! Always had a soft spot for him since his stint at left back before being dropped for the CL final.....that must have choked him!

If he keeps playing like this I can't see him being dropped! Sure Diarra is a fine player and og course Le Boss rates him as he has acquired him!

Flaminal is not the most"fashionable" player which is why I suspect many think he will get dropped! Personally I think it is Gilberto, Diaby and Diarra who are on the sticky wicket as Mathieu is gonna take some shifting!

Have to say i never liked the Flanimal, ok he did well for us as a left back in the Euro cup run but I never rated him until this season that is. He has played great so far Im a big fan of Gilberto so to keep him out of the team he must be doing well its good to see a "squad" player getting a chance and taking it

Flamini"s role at Arsenal has changed in a surprising way to everybody tbh. Last season he was set to leave the club now he has overtaken Gilberto. Aswell as that he is keeping the like of Denilson, Diaby and Diarra who of course he would have been behind in the pecking order last season (not to mention Alex Song  who is now a center half).

With that being said, Guttuso is big and blocky. Is Flamster that kind of athlete? I mean he is no Vieira. He does not dive in on challenges with passion, with that being said he does give 110% effort everytime he steps onto the pitch and of course he has been branded bossy so that is a good thing.
