Champions League Last 16
I know it's quite early, and we haven't yet qualified, but the groups are starting to take shape and I thought it'd be worth seeing who we could be likely to face. Assuming we win the group, it looks as though we'll be up against one of the following:
- FC Copenhagen
- Valencia
- Spartak Moscow
- Roma
- Schalke 04 (or Benfica)
- AC Milan
(and possibly Werder Bremen or FC Twente if/when Spuds fuck it up).
The Italian sides are definitely ones to avoid. Valencia have been a CL bogey side for us in the past. Moscow is a relatively easy tie but another long journey.
So ideally, FC Copenhagen please.

I was hoping for them in the group stage, fingers crossed!Bring Back Pires wrote:I know it's quite early, and we haven't yet qualified, but the groups are starting to take shape and I thought it'd be worth seeing who we could be likely to face. I was thinking more along the lines of a 3 day drinking fest in one of the finest cities in the world!Flattuso wrote:Benfica or Schalke for me. I want us to do well this year, and simply getting the easy ties wont keep us on our toes.
Spartak Moscow could be a pain in the arse, if we get them, a tuesday away game would be best.

Probably not Shalke then, they're really struggling in the league this season, although do have Raul...Flattuso wrote:Benfica or Schalke for me. I want us to do well this year, and simply getting the easy ties wont keep us on our toes.
