Arsenal AGM

Post by Cus Geezer »

It's this thursday.

Is it true that any AST member can attend? If so can you just turn up on the day?

I have no doubt it will be a very well stage managed affair with only pre submitted written questions allowed on the night. If anyone has any ideas about turning up and asking awkward questions they can forget it!

The floor will hardly be open to people on the night to voice their opinion in case somebody should ask a testing question. You wont learn too much or be told too much or be allowed to ask too much apart from toeing the line and told to sing from the boards hymn sheet.

Oh my god!

Someone on here saying that the present board are not lillywhite and may be playing a game including spinning propoganda!

Well I never! Wonders will never cease!

You know you can be banned from this forum for questioning the beliefs of Nina. Hill-Wood, Fiszman ans Edelman!

Take him to the gallows!

Wonder if anyone will be allowed to ask why the man the board hated, Kroenke, is now their white knight?

Nah didn't think so!

Can I be quite frank and say I have very little interest in what comes out of the AGM! Fact is you will only hear what they want you to hear!

Before I am accused of it, not because I don't care but because I realise that we are only being fed what the board will want us to hear!

I'm sorry but if you believe all you get told at the AGM you are from Planet Reebok!

The AGM can have some interesting stuff, be great if Dein turns up but I agree with the cynics on this one, I doubt we will learn that much or any really interesting questions be asked.
Wonder if anyone will be allowed to ask why the man the board hated, Kroenke, is now their white knight?
1) He had Dein
2) They thought he was trying to buy the club

that would be my guess

Back to my original question, can any AST member attend it?

I cannot understand how any shareholder attending the agm has to submit in writing beforehand to be approved for the agm. Surely this cannot be legal ? Forget the power struggle going on at the moment this bullshit should not be tolerated any year. The agm by definition is where the legal owners of the club(the shareholders) get the chance to ask questions about the running of the club by the board and I know if I owned shares I would challenge the legality of the gag put on shareholders at the meeting. All this appears to be is a glorified pr exercise where everything radiates positivity and all the dark secrets are brushed under a carpet somewhere. :x :x :x

Cus, my understanding is if you are a shareholder you have every right to attend and infact should be invited too!

I don't know but if the shares bought by AST are in their name therefore they will be invited to attend (only 1 invitation) I presume someone from the AST board will attend or some such arrangement has been made.

Email someone through their website to find out.

augie, the questions preprepared is hardly new from what I remember, saves time I suppose is the official reason, saves annoying questions in reality

In answer to your original question Mgaic Hat, no - members of the AST won't automatically be able to attend the AGM on Thursday.

Every share holder gets an invite and if they are unable to attend they can nominate a proxy to attend in their place. The AST has three shares and also numerous shareholders as members. They are committed to enabling as many of their members as possible to attend the AGM and have sent a request to all their members to pass on their proxy invites if they are not attending on Thursday. However, they are heavily oversubscribed this year - far more members asking to attend, than proxy invites available, so if you're not already on their list, there's probably no point in contacting them now. However, if you are a shareholder and are unable to attend, please get in touch with them asap as they would be delighted to hear from you.

Agreed that the questions will be hand-picked and answers prepared in advance, but in the last couple of years there has been an opportunity for questions from the floor. Not sure this will the case this year because of the huge interest, but you never know.

I am aware magic hat that the whole pre-prepared questions is not a new thing but it still dont make it right. If I employ a manager to run my shop is it right that at the end of the tax year I cannot ask him important questions about the business and his own performance despite the fact that my money is paying his wages ? If like me you do not think it is right then do you not think the same logic should apply here ? For example Arsene Wenger is an employee of the club so should he not be available to answer questions directly about transfers, money available or whatever ? The fact that this shit has gone on for years now doesnt make it right or in my opinion legal and should be opposed by every small shareholder in the club - how can a chairman who owns less than 1% of shares sit at a top table and preach to other members, that may be larger shareholders than himself, and reject their rights to ask questions because they havent been pre approved by the arseholes on the board ? Can somebody tell me if the positions on the board(chairman, secretary etc) go up for election at each agm or is that a closed shop too ? Sometimes the bullshit that the club comes out with makes my blood boil  :x

I never said life or business was fair or that the board were saints on earth. It is an annoying business practise but they do at least take unprepared questions as well in the past

Try asking for exact details of why Dein was sacked!

Try asking about details of meetings with Kroenke or Usmanov!

Try asking anything at all thats slightly controversial and I can give you the answer now!

"We are not prepared to answer that queastion at the present time"

The key word being prepared!

Augie raises a very good point! Where else would a very small share holder get such a large say in things! If it was your business (and if you are a shareholder it is your business) you would never stand for it!

But no because its Hill "his dad was a very nice chap, went to school with Churchill"-Wood we are all expected to suffer it!

I really hope that the loyal fans with shares turn up and give them a hard time! Only for the board to try and slap them down to make people realise better the devil you know is not always a good thing!
