Brian Cowen has announced that

Post by Pal Lydersen »

he is changing our national emblem from a harp to a condom as it accurately reflects the government’s political stance. A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks and gives you a sense of security when you’re actually being screwed.

The Euro is flawed. There are two ways out of this mess:

-The collapse of the euro which will probably destroy the EU along with it.
-The absolute destruction of the national level of economic governance (tax raising etc) - all powers to brussels whereby Ireland becomes an economic region of Germany.

My bet is that the european elites will prefer the second option. Some independence eh?

There's a lot I don't understand.

Allegedly, the average British household will be paying about £300 towards the Irish economic mess.

When I say British, I really mean English. England is already subsidising N.Ireland, Scotland and Wales. And we haven't even got our own parliament. :?

It's totally unfair that university education is free in Scotland. But only for Scots. Better health care too. All paid for by the good old English taxpayers.

Tin hat on, and waiting for responses from non English Brits.

Didn't know that, Davey.

But why should you be paying anything at all, just because you're not Scottish?

Do Scots get their fees paid by Scotland if they attend an English/Welsh/N.I university?

I think the £300 figure might be wrong. I heard it's more like £40 to £100 but that's not the point of course. It's wrong that you should be expected to pay anything to bail out our millionaire bankers and corrupt politicians - because that is where the money is going. It's disgraceful that this bunch of crooks and incompetent fuckwits have fucked our country royally and very few of them have lost their jobs/inflated pensions or been punished in any way at all.

As much as I don't trust the unions, 10 years ago they did warn this government that putting all it's eggs in one basket (the inflated housing market) would lead to disaster and the retards in power ignored them. It's much like what happened in Engerland with your housing market in the 80's.

I wouldn't be so smug if I was Engerlish either lads - you owe the second highest amount after us and what's happening now to us may well happen to you soon enough... :(

I wasnt taking the piss seriously i think the current situation is a disaster for all of us... I think the cuts being made by the current government although harsh are absolutely necessary and this is why we might not go down Irelands route :?

The UK is fucked, just like Ireland. And for much the same reasons. Reckless money men lining their pockets and pushing up housing prices to a ridiculous level. Very nice for well off people who have built up a property portfolio based on "buy-to-let" mortgages. It's a bastard for people paying expensive private rent. And with no hope of buying their own places anymore. House prices should be allowed to crash, just like the early 1980's.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I'm not saying a word!

I made a lighthearted thread with regards to this and it seemed to upset a few!

By reckless money men i guess you mean governments and central banks?

It was they who made a concious decision to encourage a housing boom with ludicrously low interest rates thereby flooding the market with credit. It was they who introduced guidelines and legislation (especially in the US under clinton) to encourage people unisuitable for home ownership onto the housing ladder. Prosperity = votes, right? Have a search for the leaked email exchange between alan greenspan and gordon brown in 1997, its quite revealing.

The banks and 'moneymen' were just reacting to the conditions placed infront of them, as they always do and always will do.

not really aiming this at you by the way, just fancy a rant
