The Bear/Denton - Funeral Information

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The Bear/Denton - Funeral Information

Post by gooner.ed »

For those that wish to attend to pay their respects...

From The Herd website - http://www.wearetheherd.com/forum/index ... topic=5765

The Funeral procession will leave at 10am Friday 19th October from the Brass Cannons outside the new ground, Hornsey Road. All flowers should also be left at the brass cannons. Could everyone attending be at the brass cannons Hornsey Road by 9.30am so we are ready to leave at 10am. Please leave flowers and Teddy Bears on display for the arrival of the Bear and family.

Bear and family will be arriving between 9.30 and 9.45. Let’s all be there to welcome them by 9.30. Have all flowers and Teddy Bears laid out around the two cannons. 10am We FOLLOW THE BEAR to the church Mary Magdalene on Holloway Road. The Police are closing Benwell Road, top of Drayton Park and one side of Holloway Road for the funeral procession. Service to start 10.30am there is a large garden with loud speakers to relay service at the church. Family and close friends first into the church and as many others as can fit but then for the rest of us its outside. From the church the Bear will go to the crematorium a private affair for the family. After that there will be the biggest wake North London has ever seen and all are invited.

Local Police have been excellent in their response to our loss. Please co-oporate with their requests also funeral stewards.

This may seem like the last time we FOLLOW THE BEAR but it ain't! He is always with us, who could forget their times spent with him.

Can't be there, and I think that even if I could, I wouldn't go. From what I've heard, the man was an absolute legend and the fact that so many people are paying him this much respect is nothing short of amazing. But I'd feel a bit silly going to a funeral with (not with, but you know what I mean) the family of someone who, before a couple of weeks ago, I'd never even heard of.

With all of that said, I hope the man gets the send off he undoubtedly deserves. I'm sure the knees-up after is going to be legendary!
