Saluting Arsenal's Bargain Bin Side (17/10)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Saluting Arsenal's Bargain Bin Side (17/10)

usual thread starter… Basically, Spurs need a scouting system comparable to Arsenal’s, which was presumably the reason that they brought in Frank Arnesen and then Daniel Comoli. Question is, if you were a young prospect, and several clubs were in for you, why would you choose to go to Spurs?

A touch disingenous. What about Wallcott (5-12M); Eduardo (7.5 or more...)?

Its all down to our great manager Arsene maybe if we had another manager we would be spending millions like other teams.

Someone needs to explain to me how players get paid. Flamini is free as in he plays for us for free? He's gotta feed the kids some way doesn't he?

Eduardo came to us for 7 mill. So we gave Dinamo 7 mill. Then we pay him a set amount every week?

GUNNERHEAD,

ASSUMING THAT THIS IS A GENUINE REQUEST BECAUSE YOU LIVE IN CANADA AND DON'T KNOW HOW OUR TRANSFER SYSTEM WORKS, AND AT THE RISK OF LOOKING A FOOL, HERE GOES:

WHEN WANTING TO BUY A PLAYER, YOU NORMALLY AGREE AND THEN PAY THE SELLING CLUB A TRANSFER FEE - UNLESS THE PLAYER IS OUT OF CONTRACT, IN WHICH CASE HE CAN NEGOTIATE A DEAL WITH INTERESTED CLUBS HIMSELF AND MOVE WITH NOTHING GOING TO HIS CURRENT CLUB.

YOU ALSO HAVE TO NEGOTIATE A CONTRACT AND WAGE STRUCTURE WITH THE PLAYER - BUT THAT NORMALLY ISN'T INCLUDED IN THE TRANSFER FEE AND IS SOMETHING SEPARATE.
