Rosetinters 2 - 3 Realists
As the Wenger empire comes crashing down around his ears, the Arsene Knows Brigade must surely now be eating humble pie. You see, those that know Arsenal, know. Those that know Arsene, don't. He's had his day. I have not and will not call him a c##t. He simply isn't. But his time is up, and he now needs to depart our Club. He's lost the fans, he's lost the dressing room, he's just lost......
Arsene, thanks for the memories. Good luck with whatever you do in the future. You are a legend, and always will be.
Goodbye.

I think he's a great manager and I really believed he had what it took to bring Arsenal another title in the next little while. I feel the players are letting him down most of all though - as I stated in another thread, I just don't think they're working hard enough for him, not that he does much to instill that work ethic into them either.
Anyway, my faith in Wenger's ability to deliver at Arsenal is currently pretty low on the basis of some extremely disinterested performances this season... especially at home.

It's interesting; everyone talking about how awful things are at the moment and how Wenger has ruined this club. In my opinion, the club is in a state of ruin, but we're not exclusive in that. I think that modern football is in a state of ruin where fans just do not matter any more. At all. That is what I find unforgivable about the situation at Arsenal at the moment. But that's for another thread...
As for Wenger - he has not ruined our club. In my opinion, you can only judge someone who has done a job for such a long time on how they left the club (if we were to imagine that he had resigned tonight) compared to how he'd found it. If I'm not mistaken, the season prior to Wenger taking over, we finished 12th (that lot from up the road finished 7th) and we haven't been outside the top 4 since then.
That isn't to say, however, that I think things are all well and good now. It seems that it's all gone a bit stale and no one is being held accountable for anything. Something needs to be freshened up, and fast. Whether that's a change in the coaching staff, the medical staff or the manager, I'm not entirely sure. Maybe everyone needs to be replaced. Who knows? All I would encourage fellow fans to remember is that we're not in a disastrous position, although it may seem like one, and that it may only be a slight tweaking of the backroom staff which is required to rejuvenate things. However, as the manager, Wenger does need to be held to account and I'm really starting to doubt that he has the know-how to turn this stagnation around.

As much as I'd rather Arsenal succeed, I am enjoying seeing all the Wengerites now turning against him in recent weeks.

I'm tired of this bullshit.. Whether you like it or not, he will be your manager until the end of this season and 99% in the end of next season. So get on with it, support the club like you're blind and get behind him (Wenger).
We're 2 points off the leaders, we're in the quarter final of the CC, and we'll advance in the CL.
It's shit to support Arsenal in the last 5 years, but when you're eating so much of it, the first trophy will taste like the stuff dreams are made of.
This season, the league is weak. I know it, you know, and Wenger knows it. I'm positive the right changes will be made in order for us to win it. Whether it happens or not, you should start supporting the club and not your personal intrests or what you think is the club's interests (AKA Wenger resigning), because he's not going anywhere not in the next two seasons at least.

Wenger took over in September 1996 (whilst the season was in progress, obviously). The previous season, 1995/96, we finished fifth.tonysaunders wrote:If I'm not mistaken, the season prior to Wenger taking over, we finished 12th (that lot from up the road finished 7th) and we haven't been outside the top 4 since then.

I appreciate your post mate, but this line is a little tough to take. That's like saying "you should starve yourself for days before every meal, so you appreciate it more". You can't really reward someone for not bringing you success on the basis of "it makes it better next time".DanielD wrote: It's shit to support Arsenal in the last 5 years, but when you're eating so much of it, the first trophy will taste like the stuff dreams are made of.
Ask people with blue balls how they feel about that line of reasoning

i'v been saying it for a while that wenger has taken the club as far as i can and he should step down but people were saying i'm too negative.its a pity wenger's job is unchallanged and the safest job in the world.well i'll just sit back and watch the drama unfold ha haBring Back Pires wrote:As much as I'd rather Arsenal succeed, I am enjoying seeing all the Wengerites now turning against him in recent weeks.

This is exactly how I feel. The players just aren't performing and thats not completely don't to arsene but at the end of the day they are all his players using his training methods and his tactics so the buck has to stop with him.Barriecuda wrote:I think he's a great manager and I really believed he had what it took to bring Arsenal another title in the next little while.
