Ticket collection issue for tomorrow - Help please

Post by badger »

Does anyone know how best to deal with the following situation:

I have a friend who has 2 season tickets - he was going to be in London tomorrow, but couldnt go to the game so I was going to meet him in London to grab the tickets.

He comes from Kent and is now saying he cant get to London tomorrow, due to snow disruption.

Will the club authorise paper tickets to be used on the day instead? And if so will the club allow somebody else other than the ticket holder to pick up the ticket?

I am coming from Southampton myself so dont want to travel unless I know I will be able to get in the ground.

Do you think the club will be sympathetic to the situation, bearing in mind the snow we have had, or am I going to have to cancel my day out?

Any advice on how to proceed would be useful please. Also if anyone has any good phone numbers that may bypass the main switch for example would also be good.

Hope you can help.

I had a similiar situation last year. I was going away and had posted my season ticket to a friend but it was delayed in the post and looked like it wouldn't get there. I rang the club and they said that they can authorise paper tickets as long as the season ticket holder give written permission- by fax is best apparenlty- and someone pays them a £10 fee.
As I say, this was last year and I didn't need to do it in the end because the ticket turned up so I can't comment much more. My only fear for you is that the club will say that they need more than a day's notice or something.

Thanks - Yep thats what I worry about, particuarly as the switchbaord is telling me the phones arent open until 3 hrs before kickoff tomorrow which is too late for me.

Anybody know any useful phone numbers at the club? There must be some people manning the phones at the club in the morning.

I turned up with 2 friends before for a Carling Cup match last season who both 'left their memberships at home'.

In actual fact, the two memberships were owned by a third mate who is a steward and he had already started work and not met us to drop them off.

I went to the box office on my own as it opened and explained (made up) that my mates were on the train up but had left their memberships at home. I had the print-out of the booking confirmation email and showed it to them.

It was subject to a £10 admin fee like has been mentioned above but since I got in early there were no problems at all and they printed me off two paper tickets - even though it was actually a few hours before the match.

Thanks - That sounds promising. As its a league game there is no booking confirmation, but obviously I do have season ticket name & number.

Is the £10 fee per ticket, or just to sort the whole thing?

Would be keen to hear from anyone else with similar experiences.

I couldnt make the 4-4 draw with the spuds due to be stuck in traffic!! :banghead:
I rang the box office to ask if a friend could use my ticket and collect a paper ticket instead. They advised me that I had to give the name of the person who was going to be collecting it and that a fee of £10 was to be made to cover admin costs!
My mate then went to the box office, showed ID and paid his tenner. The rest is history.
