Turnip's Arrogance

Post by 1989 »

OliverKayTimes Oliver Kay Wenger was asked why Arsenal rarely win big games: "You're a football specialist. I leave that analysis to you because you know everything"
Is he trying to be funny or something?

Think all the Jibes are getting to him , Mourinho , Evra most recently and the cast of thousands in the media .

Reckon he knows that this was his best chance in years in turning the Mancs over and he got it horribly wrong and blew it . How was he going to Answer it really because there is no way of giving an honest damage limitation answer to that question .

Alternatively ...

" The State and condition of all the top teams pitches leaves a lot to be desired "

That answer would have been okay if it were in relation to most of the rubbish the press ask and print, but the question was an absolutely valid one that Arsenal fans especially want to know the answer to (although I suspect most of us know). Wenger's response makes him look both churlish and foolish and diminishes his reputation even more.

Brilliant post. Accurate (unfortunately) and to the point. Well played NBE. 8)

he's had enough of the media and the pressure on him is mounting. I think if it were up to me at the end of this season I'd tell him thanks for everything but it's time for a change

Thing is he’s had a relatively easy ride from both the press & the media over his/our actual performance over the last few years. Even now the thought of Arsenal fans thinking the time’s come for change is generally met with derision & the typical claims of us being “ungratefulâ€

As much as I love what Arsene has achieved with us IN THE PAST, honestly I would actually have happily gotten rid of him in May 2010 tbh.

This is NOT a transitional period anymore or a proper project or any of that shite... it is a slump. He is past his sell by date. Like GG was in 1995. It happens. And the longer Arsene stays and drags this painful ego project of his along on its dying gasping last legs, the more chance he will be ultimately remembered for failure rather than the glory days he brought... and THAT would be very very sad.

At a time when Wenger has called for the club to be respected, this answer showed a complete lack of respect for a "respected" journalist.
Yet another sign of the man's hypocrisy, he is becoming more and more of an embarrassment to the club, from remarks such as this, blaming the pitch and his technical area bottle throwing tantrums.
What next a "the grass was too green" houlier like comment.
The signs have been there for a long time, back as far as his run-in with Pardew (*word censored*) at West Ham.
I do honestly believe he will go before the end of his contract, if the media pressure continues.

 I was actually gonna make a joke in my post about how it was all Pardew’s fault.

Agree with that too. Still unlikely, but not as impossible as most people seem to think.

Christ, have I turned into Sid?!

I wouldn't even bother with the thanks if it was left to me, Wenger is now tarnishing all his former glory for a personal and stubborn crusade.

I feel it's getting to the point where his conviction about not buying experienced and quality players will kill x y and z is now doing exactly that, as they don't seem to be improving, why ?, because there's a distinct lack of competition within the club.

These players can no longer be dismissed as rookies and youngsters, but as experienced international players in their own right, the things that are missing are a winning mentality, an old head to tell them what they're doing wrong (or right), and a killer instict, etc, etc.

They have now grown a complex about playing the likes of the Chavs and Manure, whereby every defeat against them looks like the last, and this surely can't just be down to the poxy pitch. :?

I understand how you fell but it's difficult for me to forget the glory of 1997-2005
