Smoothie the ref

Post by Wayno »

Smooth, I know that you are a ref but at what level I don't know. Please give us an insight into reffing at your level, ever been punched, verbally abused? We all claim to love the game and hate the refs but the game would and could not continue without the likes of you. What are your thoughts, is it as bad for refs as the media tell us???? You do know that Buffoonderos is a *word censored*    t rest of post was serious 8)

I'm a level 7 ref. It is a hard job to do the abuse isnt as bad as it is in the premiership if someone told me to fuck off it would be a no questioned asked red! where in the premiership the likes of Rooney get away with it.

top reff, thats exacly what i would do *player to ref:fuck off* *ref to player; RED CARD OUT no you fuck off*!!!!

where rooney would never get a game if refs donethat in the prem thats the reason they prob dont send him off plus he plays for manure.

So how much leeway do you give the players? Even if they don't swear, would you caution them if they continually back-chat or questions your decisions?

I dont flash cards about so far this season I've booked 5 and sent one of for calling me a cheat. I use a lot of common sense, Back chat I will have a word and will eventually book them if they continue. In my league the teams are genrally decent teams, and apparently according to some teams I'm a decent Ref

Sounds reasonable enough!

I think the problem with common sense is that it is not quantifiable. What I mean is that, although your approach sounds reasonable, there might be another ref on the next pitch whose level of common sense is very different, and another ref who doesn't use common sense at all.

I think the best that I hope for when I watch a game is that the ref is consistent in that particular game.

And pundits (!) who say that they want consistency in the application of rules and the use of common sense can't have it both ways and expect to see like for like decisions all over the country.

I still don't like Graham Poll - but you're ok Smooth

Well the Man Ure game the weekend the Ref was harsh on Carson. I would of gave him a yellow at the most. The Ref showed no common sense there

And therein lies my problem - Carson gets a straight red and another ref would've been yellow. As a fan, ok if it's your own keeper you want him to stay on but if I see Carson go and next week up at Liverpool Reina does the same thing and gets yellow (esp if gerrard has a quick word  ), i will be fucked off - As I was when Dudek stayed on against us in 2001.

The reason why I would kept him on Man USA being 3-1 up last minutes of the game, Villa being down to 10 already
