Arsene's gone to bed - We aren't making a signing in January

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I really hope you're right and not just on a windup! I trust you though. :?

If this is true what do you think of Wenger? I certainly would be fully supporting him again.

I mentioned that I know a close friend of Pat Rice. That's how I understand that he is stepping down to be replaced by Gilles Grimandi at the end of the season.

Anyway, that friend saw Pat over the festive break and was told the following:

- Wenger will be signing a 'leader on the pitch' in January.
- The 2/3 transfer targets are household names, established and 'winners'.
- Potential big money transfer fee (£15m+)
- Vela out on loan, Ramsay back from Forest, Alumina to be sold to a Spanish club after being told he has no future at the Club.
- The Board have told Wenger "that the team need to start matching the success of the Club off the pitch".

Difficult to believe, I know, but this source has been right for me over the years (knew about Campbell the day before it happened)
O Jeeezusss I hope it's True! - where's that fingers crossed and knelt in prayer emoticon when you need it?

:hmmthink: :happydance:

Who's your source Frank?? It's Louder isn't it??

I hope you're right mate but history tells us that Arsene will do nothing, preferring to believe that his current squad (the best he has ever assembled don't forget!) will see us through.

- Wenger will be signing a '8 year old leader on the pitch' in January.
- The 2/3 transfer targets are household names, established and 'winners' which are out of our price range.
- Potential big money transfer fee (£1.57)
- Vela out on loan, Ramsay back from Forest, Alumina to be keptafter being told he has future at the Club.
- The Board have told Wenger "that the team does not need to start matching the success of the Club off the pitch".

Probably more like this

Let's hope it's household names in England and not France.

Knowing my luck, we will be reading pravda.com on the 1st February 2011, with Wenger crowing that we nearly signed Lionel Messi.

Just passing on what I've been told lads. Don't shoot the messenger!

I don't know many household names available in January, can anyone put me in the right direction?

I'd settle for Johnson from Brum though, regardless of what he did tonight, he's a good player.

Btw I'm sceptical considering Squallaci was described by Wenger as a leader on arrival....

Intriguing news although it has more than a whiff of selective bit of leaking aimed specifically at trying to quell criticism of the club the manager and even ultimately the Board.

After all even if it was absolutely justified somehow the fact is the club cut back investment in the football team for several years and that in fact was what led to the success of the club off the pitch. Had the club been that much less successful off the pitch it almost certainly would have that much more successful on it. I wouldn't expect the Board to freely acknowledge this but if they were to push the manager out he just might not feel the obligation to protect his former employers.

Having said that let's all hope this actually transpires and that it the beginning of a new policy inside the club and not just a public relations exercise as one player in the price range listed isn't likely to be good enough to cure all that ails us. But there is no doubting that this could if not would be a really good step in the right direction.

After tonight victory Wenger will come out with his old classic"The squad is strong enough i will only buy if they are better than what we have got now" So there is no one better than Denilson Diaby and Bender then
