What is success?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

What is success?

Post by corkbarry »

Fans of teams that do nothing except qualify for the uefa cup once a blue moon are very happy with their teams finish mid table
Gooners are only truly happy when we finish top.
Can anyone imagine AW being sacked after the invinceables season, but this is what happened to Ryan, coach of the USA ladies (Soccer)team.
Their record under him is Won 45 Drew 9 Lost 1. He was deemed a failture because they did not win the World cup,That sounds like every England manager going back to 1976.

I like it how you use the term WE CorkBarry

It's like when Capello won La Liga for Real Madrid for the first time in years then he gets the sack  Shamefull really
Also Mourinho 6 trophies in 3 years and he is forced to leave the club

I can't imagine if Wenger won nothing for the next two seasons there wouldn't be some stirrings of unrest here?

No but there were some stirrings about if we struggled for 4th again by some fans who feared he had lot the plot with not buying in millions pounds worth of star players

To be fair to the USA, the manager had dropped the number one keeper in the world for the semi final against Brazil and her replacement had a shocker. This led to clash between manager and keeper, he mishandled it, it isn't surprising he was sacked. Now I feel it is a little harsh to sack him but there were reasons enough
