Bacary Sagna

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Glad hes got his hair back ! In the match where he didnt have his hair the person next to me pointed out that he looked like a little boy or Gus from Eastenders ! ( queue somebody with more pc savvy than me to put a picture up of Gus from Eastenders and Sagna with out his white/ gold hair!)

Wonderful buy so far, really improved our defence and so cheap for a top quality right back.

What's impressed me most about him is the way he's slotted straight into the side. You'd be forgiven for thinking he's played there for years. A lot of transferees take a while to adapt, even legends like TH14 and Bobby.

Good point. It takes most players at least their first season before they get to grips with the pace of the PL alone. Sagna looks like he's been in the side for the last 5 years. 8)

Would like to see a couple of goals from him though, but then I am a picky b*stard... And if you look at a legend like Dicko, he wasn't exactly prolific in front of goal was he...?

I think hes been a great signing, should surely keep Eboue out of the right back position...

Is the blond part of his hair a wig?

Because one week he was shaven headed, and the next he had the blonde braids back as long as usual....

^^ I noticed that too ram!!

What a great signing, reminds me of when we signed Ralph, a few people weren't sure how he fit in and he played like he'd been with us for years..Sagna has been superb this season, if you could take Clichy and stick Bacary's final pass on him, thats a scary thought..he has all the ingredients to hold his place for the next 5+ years if he carries on (sorry Justin)

Sagna's been amazing - I can't remember a player ever slotting in so quickly or comfortably as he has, like he's always been an Arsenal player. His positioning is good, he tackles and intercepts without fuss, he doesn't do anything mad and he links up well going forward. He doesn't have the cross Eboue does and doesn't drive into the box with the same energy, but he's so much better in defence and does more than enough going forward. His poorest games for us have come in the last few weeks and even then he's looked much better than Eboue.

I don't think, going into the summer, any of us thought we needed a right-back, but he's been a revelation. Top, top signing. I reckon we now have the best full-back pairing in the country.

It does mean at least one of Eboue, Justin Hoyte and Kerrea Gilbert will have to go though.

We all love silky attacking football, especially when we win 7-0, but it's been great to see our defence holding the line consistently well this year and showing some real bite in the tackle.
