The Elusive 8th Goal

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The Elusive 8th Goal

Post by donaldo »

Last night"s fantastic display was about the sixth or seventh time i have seen the Gunners hit 7 goals in a game. With half an hour left we were 6 up i thought at last my first eight as a gooner. But even though we came close and even hit the bar it was just seven(i know it sounds funny). Can anyone remember the last time we scored 8 goals in a game? It was probably back in the thirties.

Until then the wait goes on,i have waited nearly 40 years but as long as Arsene is manager it will happen one day.I just hope its against the spuds

Donaldo, wahat were the games where we scored seven? not calling you a liar just intersted. I lived abroad a lot in the 70s, 80s and 90s and it wasn't so easy to keep up with things then. :?:

I was being greedy and wanted 10 ! When it went to 6 in the 58th minute I was thinking we could actually get 10 as we have got 30 minutes left still !

The 7-0 against Everton is often refered to as The Dennis Bergkamp Show. 8)

As for Liege - Eddie not only scored a cracker he set up three of the other goals... unfortunately for Eddie it all turned to shit for him right after that game...

I loved the game. I swear it was 1-1 at half-time wasn't it.

I always remember Merse's chip. Chris Woods was never the same after that match :D

Yeah, he scored that stunning shot on the turn from the edge of the box. That started the avalanche of goals I think. Limpar scored a really nice on as well.

I was in Liege for the 7-0
and at highbury for 6-1 v Vienna (Smudger got 4 that night so did Dean Saunders 4Liverpool - we din't even make the back page - THATS a serious change in our status)
Saw our recent end of season tanking of everton after they had guaranteed their position

slavia was the best

never seen 8 (sure we've done it in a friendly I remember)
