John Hirst - Campaigning for Prisoners voting rights

How can this guy be campaigning for prisoner's rights. He budgeted his landlady to death, striking her with an axe 7 times and then went into the kitchen and made coffee while waiting for her to die.

The most shocking thing is he still hasn't shown any remorse. The judicial system really baffles me sometimes. Hes a remorseless murderer, how can he be roaming the streets and even helping prisoners know their rights.

Shocking man, I wish I could interview the *word censored*. He is saying hes served his time, but that woman had her one and only life taken away and her family will have to live with the horror for the rest of their lives.

He then starts comparing the government taking away the right for vote to the nazi's murdering all the jews in ww2. WHAT A DETESTABLE DISGUSTING LITTLE CRETINOUS LOATHSOME APPALLING SHAMEFUL VILE *word censored* OF A MAN

How is this right? Do you think murderers, sex offenders deserve basic rights when they have ruined other peoples lives?

A life for a life I say. If we don't have the death penalty (and given the amount of innocent people executed over the years it's probably right we don't) then murderers should serve life, thus giving up their life. End of.

How often do ye have a General Election in the UK? For the sake of arguement we'll say every 5 years. Well, if there was an election today and someone (regardless of the crime) was due for release within the next 2 years, therefore they would be out for the majority of the term of the gov assuming that they served their full term. Then do ye think that they should be allowed vote given that the outcome of the election will affect them on the outside? Just a thought.

BTW, I never heard of the guy mentioned in the OP but what a complete nutter he must be, and how the fuck was he let out?

can they vote when they leave prison....? if so then i think it is fair the last thing we need is a block prison vote it could make them very powerful, prison is surely about taking most freedoms away for that time, so i think voting should be one of them.

I don't like the US way were if you commit a crime you can never vote... is this correct? if so i don't like that system.

If these *word censored* are allowed to vote then what will happen is, parties trying to get into Government will go to prisons and try spouting shit to the *word censored* in their saying 'if we get in power, we'll do this for you blah blah blah' and the *word censored* will start getting shit.

and doesn't the home secretary have the power of early release yhat could get messy as well.
