ARSENAL STAGING A EUROPEAN FINAL??

Post by Galasso »

From Arsenal.com

Arsenal Football Club today announces that Emirates Stadium has been shortlisted by UEFA for hosting the UEFA Cup Final in 2011.

This got me thinking about should we ever get through to another CL final, the one thing I would hate would be the possibility that it was at my home ground!Just re-hashing your normal home matchday experience for what should be one of the biggest games oF your lives. That would fill me with dread! (Other than being in the final which would be ok!!)

One should be seeking out far off places (Paris!) and desperately trying to find a way to get there. But above all....

Just imagine Arsenal leading, mmm, Barcelona 3-0 with 10 minutes to go and then....THOUSANDS START LEAVING EARLY TO GET HOME :!:

What do you think? Would you want to see us play a European Cup Final at Home as others have experienced?

Don't know about you but I'm heading to Moscow...

I wouldn't want a Euro Cup Final at "home" - it'd take away from the enjoyment of going somewhere different. Plus I probably wouldn't be able to sit in my seat.

Thats one final we will never be in.The Eufa cup is for small clubs like the Spuds and Bolton.

Surely our capacity is too small to ever hold CL final

2004 Gelsenkirchen would have been around the same capacity of 60000

Anyway, the idea was hypothetical as other teams (i.e. Roma) have played a European Cup Final at their home ground and how would people feel about this.

Can you imagine ? The team could come out to a nearly full stadium and then about 10 minutes in it would be full up. Half time and about 10 minutes into the 2nd half the middle section would be empty and then if we were winning comfortably just before the end all the usual crew would piss off home  But thankfully we will be in the champions league and not the UEFA cup as I stated earlier.
