Is IHH having an existential crisis?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Is IHH having an existential crisis?

Post by Chippy »

The folllowing should be read in a pompous twat voice, like one of those BBC history programme blokes or Lloyd Grossman.

There has been much speculation on various threads of this forum as to why I Hate Hleb refuses to change his name now that Alex is making a claim for player of the season. The most popular new theory, which seems to be supported by IHH himself is that the name is now deeply ironic in a post modernist, Tracy Emin, Damien Hirst way, allowing us to see the angst as the team he loves makes the transition from delicate neophytes to the dogs bollocks. Maintaining the name seems to say "i knew this Epiphany would take place."

Another school of thought is that he is having an existential crisis like Mathieu in Sartre's Roads to Freedom or more disturbingly like Camus in La Peste. Does IHH really exist? Is he only a figment of a greater Gooner imagination? Does he have a reason for existence now that Alex is playing so well or has his work on earth been fulfilled?

The third strain of opinion gaining currency following his revelation on the "Hands off Chippy" thread that he not only wears his mothers dress but her underwear too, is that this is part of an Oedipus complex, but an unusual one in that he wants to sleep with Hlebs mother and the self loathing this engenders means he displaces his feelings on to Alex and therefore I Hate Hleb.

The fourth opinion (known as the Woking School, leading acolyte 26may1989) is that this is all a load of bollocks and he can't admit he was wrong.

Finally I think we can discount the Nitzschean view that he is a bastardhole or closet spud as going there would undoubtedly cause a tear in the space time continuum that even Doctor Who couldn't put back together.

  :? :? :?

Quality, chippy. Quality. 8)

However, I love the name. It can be viewed as eccentricity, or satire, or plain old grumpy football fan being sarcastic. It adds character to the forum. :P 8)

Keep it Hlebby!!

THAT WAS VERY FUNNY - IF A LITTLE BIT TOO HIGH-BROW FOR MOST OF THE USERS OF THIS FORUM, INCLUDING ME! MY GOD, YOU ARE A WELL-READ MAN, AREN'T YOU CHIPPY? 8) I ADMIT I'M ENVIOUS.

I MEAN, BEING A POOR WORKING CLASS BOY WHO COULDN'T AFFORD THE LUXURY OF A PROPER EDUCATION - SURVIVAL WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT LESSON TO LEARN WHERE I CAME FROM - I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW MOST OF THE PEOPLE YOU REFERRED TO :( . INDEED, I EVEN HAD TO GET MY DICTIONARY OUT TO UNDERSTAND SOME OF THE WORDS!!  HOWEVER I DID GET THE GIST OF YOUR POST AND THOUGHT IT WAS HILARIOUS. 8)

THE FIRST OPTION YOU OUTLINED IS PROBABLY NEAREST THE TRUTH BUT I SUPPOSE THE FIRST FOUR COULD ALL BE APPLICABLE TO SOME DEGREE OR ANOTHER!! :?

THANKFULLY, YOU REALISED THAT THE LAST OPTION YOU GAVE IS JUST TOO TERRIBLE TO EVEN CONTEMPLATE!!

We in Woking are liking this debate a lot, but are becoming very concerned about what's happening to Gus's avatar. Has Tracy Emin got to that too? Or is everything on this site generated by Tracy Emin??

Pretentious moi?

Glad you saw the funny side IHH. For a horrible while there i thought people were taking me seriously.

I come from a mega poor background too, but was dead lucky to get to a Grammar School. Also I have learned the art of bullshitting with very limited knowledge over the years as you have probably sussed from my other posts.

I think Gus's avatar has been attacked by the Spuds who want swiss Phil. They'll only return it to normal if we hand him over. Free transfer anyone?
