Tight fisted bookies

Post by Swale_Gooner1985 »

This has happened to me a couple of times lately with book makers and wanted to see if anyone else has similar problems...

Its the way they do all they can, not to pay out the winnings...even though you have clearly WON!!

Last week i won 3 accumulators totalling a win of over £180 with william hill, when i withdrew the cash from my internet account i waited 8 days and nothing had gone into my account, even though its supposed to be 3 days...so i contacted them. The claimed i had to provide evidence of my identity before i could have the winnings....like a copy of my passport and bank statement etc... even though ive used them for years....couldnt believe it. Anyway, after a while of arguing the toss, i sent over the paper work and a few days later they actually paid me.

Then last night, I won £26 at the game with a score of 2-1 and first goal between 21 and 30 mins....went to collect....'youve won £16' says the bloke, so i pointed out it was clearly £26, to which after checking with his mate he begrudgingly agreed and processed the form, which he handed to his mate to sort the money out...

as he handed it to him he said 'its £26' so the bloke gets out a tenner and 6 one pound coins....oh for fuck sake....so again i told him it was a tenner short, to which he just stared at me like it said 'ive got ya family tied up mate' so i had to ask for it again...and finally got MY winnings....its unbelieveable, its happening so often....anyone else finding this?

They must tell them when they get the job to try to not pay out first of all if anyone claims a win!

oh and another thing, the bloke in the queue infront of me won an accumulator and went to claim...but the bloke wouldnt pay out until the west brom game finished...even though they werent involved in the bet....amazing!! :?

What an elaborate way to show off all your winnings, swale!

I won 56k, and the the fucking bookies paid out straight away, even though i told them in advance that my bet was based upon knowledge of a conspiracy at the very top of European football.

Surely bookies don't need to rip people off as they're designed to win anyway. And surely keeping a punter is worth more than the £10 in your case.

I'd put it down to incompetence of the cashier rather than say the bookies are trying to scam you.

I have a Paddy Power account online and do all my bets there now after similar shit antics in various bookies shops in Dublin.

PP online pay out 3 days after withdrawal requst no questions asked and they are always giving me free bets of €2 or €5 because I'm a regular punter - I know it's not huge money but it's a nice gesture.

Swale, join PP online, they are quality in my experience.

Aparently this is happening a lot with bookies especially European and far Eastern online bookmakers, what they are also doing is changing the odds once the event has started. First time I have heard a problem with WH though

This has happened a couple of times to me. I had 2 accumulators on one slip. On the first accumulator I won £52 but they wouldnt pay it out because there was a game on the 2nd accumulator that wasn't being played until the next day. Regardless, I went in the next day and got the full £52. More recently, I won £244 and walked into the bookies feeling pretty good. Walked up to the counter, handed the guy the slip and said "Not a bad win for a £1 stake" and he replied "We'll see if you've even won first". I knew I had so didn't really mind. He then payed me out £234 instead of the full £244. Both of these were in William Hill.

they cant pay out a slip if there are games to go for the first one, and for the second one i reckon he nicked a tenner off you
