Pennant mouthing off about being overlooked by Wenger because he's English.
I probably get more wound up about this than many, but I wish fucking losers like Jermain "Electronic Tag" Pennant would stop blaming their passports for not getting as far in football as they want. The reality, especially when we're talking about a tit like Pennant, is that English players too often lack the character their French, Dutch, Spanish, African, American, Portuguese, German etc counterparts show. Plus our players often don't have sufficient technical ability.
Young English players should stop whinging about not getting a look-in and make something of their careers by moving for first team football, including leaving the comfort zone of English football (where unambitious players get overpaid merely for being squad players).
To be fair to Pennant, he did move to Birmingham to get his career going, but blaming anti-English bias for things not going as well as they might is just laziness on his part. But then we shouldn't expect much more from these muppets.

I think Pennant should look a little closer to home for his lack of first team football whilst at Arsenal. I think his off the field antics and brushes with the law were what screwed his chances. Didn't he when caught driving whilst still banned, give the excuse that as he couldn't read and that he had mis-understood a letter from the courts.

One of the problems for Jermaine Pennant was that he was a 15 year old signed for a lot of money, I mean to take someone in Year 11 in school and tell them that they're worth millions of pounds is asking for trouble.
I haven't got a clue what Jermaine was expecting, did he think he should be a 1st teamer at 17 ahead of Pires and Ljungberg, two of the best players in Europe because of his British passport?
Maybe Theo is helped because Arsenal's finances can't sign ready formed talent, like Wenger did when he signed Sylvain Wiltord for £11m another player who would have come ahead of Pennant at the time.
But if you listened to Theo's interview after the game on Tuesday it says a lot, he sounds like the world's oldest 18 year old, someone who sounds a lot more mature than his years and a lot less inclined to believe his own hype. Pennant was the complete opposite, I saw some reality TV show following young footballers around 2002/3 time and he sounded like someone who wanted to live a playboy lifestyle without actually achieving anything in the game yet.
And what sealed his fate entirely was the time he drove from London to Oxford pissed up, colliding with a lamp post, part of which was still attached to his car when he was pulled over. When the cops asked his name he told them he was Ashley Cole (hmm...really throwing the cops off the scent their Jermaine). If you were pissed up and needed to get to Oxford surely someone on X thousands of pounds a week could have called a cab.
I'm more than happy that Arsene Wenger gave someone that thick his marching orders. I must admit I am a little suspect why no English players are considered good enough, as David Bentley surely could have cut the mustard in this current squad.
But with Jermaine Pennant, I'm reminded of that old saying. That Patriotism really is the last refuge of a scoundrel.
