It's a bit of a shocker. Cork airport is infamous for fog. The pilot made three attempts to land and crashed on the third.
Listening to reports it seems that he flew in a holding pattern for 20 minutes deciding what to do. Unfortunately he made a bad choice.
RIP

I've never seen the fog so bad as it was this morning, I could barely see the front of the car. The people in the terminal didnt even know there had been a crash outside the visibilty was so bad.
RIP to all.

Its had a massive impact on people over here. Worst air disaster in a long time.
Our President's cousin has been confirmed as one of the fatalities.
What a shame they didn't divert to Shannon.
Rest in Peace

It's was bad up my way too 300km away.
I was reading an aviation forum this evening and supposedly it's pilot's law to make two attempts to land and if the fog is that bad you divert.
Wonder what on earth made them chance it one more time

Possibly low fuel? He circled for 20 minutes at one stage too.
