Pubs for Sunday

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Pubs for Sunday

Post by AL5Gooner »

Being spoilt by Emirates don't fancy Wembley's facilities. Any suggestions (polite only please) of Pubs nearby or on Jubilee / Met that are good?

Time Sunday, February 27 · 10:00am - 1:00pm

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Location Walkabout, Finchley Road
255 Finchley Road, West Hampstead, NW3 6LU
London, United Kingdom

Gooners,

We've been researching long and hard to get you the best venue for the best prices for what we hope to be the day the "X Years Without A Trophy" nonsense is put to bed!

A favourite of the past, Bar 3one7, is closed down so we've shortlisted and bargained non-stop to deliver you the match day pub of choice - Walkabout in Finchley Road!
...
http://www.walkabout.eu.com/home/venues ... meset=true

We had to ditch some other options due to the outrageous prices they were charging! With Walkabout though, we have some pretty good deals. If you show them a Cup Final ticket, you can grab a pint of Carling and a burger for £6. Also if you have a Boomerang Card (£3), you can have these drinks:

£2.60 - Carling
£2.70 - Stella
£2.70 - Fosters
£2.80 - Guinness
£2.55 - Strongbow
£3.00 - Magners

The great part about this deal is you and your mates only have to buy one Boomerang Card between you and share it around.

Oter reasons to be happy include:
- the doors flying open at 10am!
- the pub being just one min walk from Finchley Road station which is one stop from Wembley Park meaning you can get from the bar to your seat at Wembley stadium in 20 mins!
- you can catch India vs England cricket match (if that's your sort of thing) as well as the usual sports news on the various screens around the venue

See you all down there for a stormer of a day!See More

I was in the Twelve Pins last week and noticed they were charging £10 just to get into the pub for the CC Final. Taking the piss slightly I thought.

Usually get a few free beers thrown in with that iirc. Still, everyone will be out on the street celebrating if we win anyway

There used to be pub a bit further down the road from the O2, I think it was called Henrys or something. I remember it being a frog and ferkin pub. I wonder if that is still there as it used to be quite a decent gooner watering hole. I think I watched every uefa cup game of ours in there that season we got to the final.

The North Star's still there mate, though I'd imagine it's changed slightly since you were a kid. It's one of those poncey gastropub type places now where all the ridiculously priced food they serve is "pan seared" or "nestling on a bed of ..." or "lightly drizzled with ...". Fucking load of old bollocks if you ask me! Old fashioned working class boozers are sadly becoming a thing of the past. Rant over for today.

Back in the day (late 70's) it used to be a big 3 or 4 story building on a corner with the pub on the first 2 stories and residential above it and it had a beer garden around the back 8) I remember the Gooner fans spray painted the toilet walls on cup final day 1978 and my father was not a happy man

I remember going back over to visit my uncle and cousin a few years later and they told me that it was a gay pub then.....it was a far cry from the clientele we had back then

anyone know anything about the Silver Spoon? apparently you need a ticket (not match ticket, venue ticket) for sunday.

I will not stop plugging this!!!! :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

This is the pub to be! Plenty of noise and dont matter if you dont have a ticket.

Will be loads of people without match day tickets
