who do arsenal think they are fooling

That is the amount of seats sold, regardless if anyone turns up to sit in them.
It has to be published for tax reasons.
20 years ago clubs would publish an attendance figure below the real one, to avoid paying tax on all the receipts, so the taxman clamped down on it.
One example is the Barca game- SOLD OUTTheCook wrote:I am continually fascinated by the obsession this forum has with attendance figures.
It has been clearly stated on many, many occasions, that the figures are officially based on tickets sold.
As some one said on another thread said, this reminds me of the Simpsons episodeLouder wrote:Didn't someone clear up the reasons for attendance figures in another thread.
And anyway, who cares. Do you feel as though they are lying to you personally ?

Stoke-SOLD OUT
Yet the official attendance at Stoke is higher that Barca. They expect us to believe that Stoke brought more than Barca to the Grove? This is just another in a long line of examples of how the people running the club take us for mugs

The club is good
The club is great………
not an obsession but i do find it very strange that they announce the wrong attendance,TheCook wrote:I am continually fascinated by the obsession this forum has with attendance figures.

Why would the club want to take us for mugs on such a pointless thing, though? - I don't get your logic.RoscommonGooner wrote:One example is the Barca game- SOLD OUT

I didn't think that was the case re reduction of capacity, as I thought the stadium was designed to take account of these requirements for European games.g88ner wrote:Why would the club want to take us for mugs on such a pointless thing, though? - I don't get your logic.RoscommonGooner wrote:One example is the Barca game- SOLD OUT

Aren't CL games always slightly reduced? - I thought less tickets were actually sold as there's daft UEFA rules about how close fans can be to advertising boards, etc. therefore it makes complete sense that the attendance vs. Stoke would be slightly up on Barca.
Firstly Barcelona's away support is pretty non existant even in Spain, fans in spain don't really do away matches.RoscommonGooner wrote:One example is the Barca game- SOLD OUTTheCook wrote:I am continually fascinated by the obsession this forum has with attendance figures.

Aren't there increased number or rows inbetween home and away fans? and stuff like that. (I don't tend to notice these things at the timemarcengels wrote:I didn't think that was the case re reduction of capacity, as I thought the stadium was designed to take account of these requirements for European games.g88ner wrote:Why would the club want to take us for mugs on such a pointless thing, though? - I don't get your logic.RoscommonGooner wrote:One example is the Barca game- SOLD OUT

I didn't see any empty rows at the Barcelona game - but the reduced "attendance" figure may be due UEFA being c**ts.
