As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Just heard Mr Wenger on radio again talking about, yes you know what. Someone get him a dictionary!!! It's what we haven't got obviously but he trots it out every frigging time like it's an asset of ours! Can he use a sentenec that doesn't include the ''ms'' words!!
Its a farce now. We lost to a weak weak United team. Im gutted for Arsenal football club.
We are becomming a joke to other teams and yesterday was the final straw for me.
I feel whole club has become a hostage to Wenger's lunatic project. It turning into cult.
That is exactly what it is a cult. The disciples chant one Arsene Wenger whatever they see on the pitch and any dissent is given a hostile response.
The project has failed but until the fans inside the ground turn on him it will be more of the same. Sadly the angst towards him is very much limited to cyberspace at the moment and he still very much has the support of the large majority inside the concrete bowl.
Its the cult of Wenger.Everything is about him no dissent is allowed. If you voice disapproval you are called mad and told to fuck off to the Spuds and the Chavs.Wenger is a dictator. The day RedAction organised that march for Wenger was a sad day in the history of our club.No one should have that much power.Remember its Arsenal FC not Arsene FC
It is embarrassing and even Wenger himself must know it.
It's hard to defend him when he comes out with this rubbish. What will he say when we're out of the title race? We have the mental strength to finish second??

He will say finishing in the top 4 is like winning a trophy. And the AKB's will lap it up as usual. They are already waiting at the Town Hall

Team for West Brom might end up being Almunia,Sagna,Koz,Squid,Clichy,Jack,Denilson,Diaby,Rosicky,Arshavin and Bender - now if that doesn't fortify your spirits (with one notable exception in JW) and isnspire nothing will! Mental strenght my arse!
problem with certain members of the current squad (and aw) is that they have far too much to say to the media without ever backing up their comments on the pitch, where it matters
the expectations were much lower in aw's early years and together with his, then, innovative winning playing-style and refreshing/purist approach to financing on-field success he exceeded those expectations season after season until 03/04's pl.
the side were clearly in a backward transition during the following 2 seasons, however, the fa cup win in 04/05 (when we were outpayed by man.u) and the "kind draws" in our road to the cl final in 05/06 "papered over the cracks".
the best thing they can do for us fans, right now, is say f**k-all to the press between now and the end of the season, focus their efforts and energies 100% on each pl match as they come along (like the invincibles did) and prove they are mentally strong by winning the title. if they can do that, they'll have something to talk to the press about rather than continually making excuses
I can't remember an Arsenal squad with LESS mental strength than this one.
Arshavin and Chamakh have both said, during this season, that they are suffering from confidence issues. Surely, under a manager that cites mental strength as one of our strengths, that there's something very wrong and/or telling about this?
The time to show the much talked about "mental strength" was against Birmingham, Barca & United, not blabbing about it after losing to all 3 as a pathetic attempt to placate the fans. A more mentally weak bunch you'll struggle to find. We are a team of losers with absolutely no experience of winning anything (sorry, Emirates Cup )
It's interesting, how would you define 'mental strength' and I wonder how Wenger sees it?
I would say it's a mix of how a team copes with immense pressure ie: big important games
and how you deal with adversity ie: poor officials decisions in game, a bad run of luck, lots of injuries.
When you look at Arsenal, you see that in almost every 'big' game we have played for the last few years, we have failed. Not much mental strength there then
On occasions we do rise to the top in these situations, Everton springs to mind recently. However, these situations are too few and far between. When we have injuries we expect the 'reserves' to come in and bust a gut, not just for the team but to state their case for a 1st team place. This just doesn't really happen, in fact, the reserves often seem to think that little or no effort is required.
There really isn't any sign of mental strength in this squad at all and I would love to be able to ask Wenger what it s that makes him think that we are mentally strong.
We are looking at a delusional manager. Someone who sees things that no-one else can, and someone who can't see what everyone else can? It's something that I have never seen or experienced in 40 years of watching Arsenal. It's both bizarre and damaging. I don't know about the strength but our manager is most certainly mental!
