Hmmmm… (5/11)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Hmmmm… (5/11)

usual thread starter… Was anyone close enough to the United bench to see or hear what Ferguson was complaining about? One fan was ejected. Was there an altercation? On the football front, do you think Arsenal need to improve to win the title or are they already good enough? I obviously think a little extra is needed, but maybe I am being hyper-critical.

I agree with ed it's 3 horse race but feel we are in with a great chance of the title following the last 2 games - we should have beaten Liverpool. I like Almunia as part of the team more than Lehmann but his unnecessary dash on Saturday was so similar to that in the 4-2 defeat a few years back at Highbury that I think it is time for mad Jens to be given another chance to prove his sanity now he knows Arsene means what he says about dropping him. Slavia Prague away seems a perfect opportunity. Overall I think ed is right about the team's (few) failings but these young guys are only human and it's fascinating watchng them grow up from a footballing perspective. Fabregas has become more an enforcer than the Flaminal and I love his tough approach and the way he told Ferdinand to F*** Off after Gallas' equalising goal. Sometimes the journey can be as exciting as reaching the destination, if not more so... :D

Just makes me cry, that we were perennially linked with Petr Cech but never bought him :(

I agree with the editorial, and i thought overall we muted united potent attacking force quite well. Genuine chances for either team were at a premium. The first goal was a bit lucky, and to be honest a foul against Hleb by Brown wouldn;t have been an unfair decision to be given IMO. The second goal was down to a clanger by Almunia, and apart from an off target header by Rooney, and the other time Almunia came racing out which we got away with, I thought we handled Man Utd rather more comfortably than they handled us, esepcially as Adebayor was a lone striker for the most part.

I'm still not sure we can win the title yet. Adebayors lack of goals worries me, van Persie just can't seem to stay fit and Ade works hard but he just isn't a great finisher, yes he can score some great goals, but he needs to score more "bread and butter" goals. Our midfield is making up for that but your forwards have to produce to be successful. I'm still not sold on Almunia either, he has done all thats asked of him, and done it well for the most part, but he's not a good positional keeper, and he's prone to go walk about.
If Jaaskelainan becomes available (and it looks like he will be) we have to sign him.
