Trouble in the stands.

Post by mikeyb772001 »

As I have mentioned before week by week there is more fighting amongst our own fans. This season I have seen various heated arguments and fights break out the grove.
Has it really got so low that we gooners are turning on each other? Its not just on the O.G where heated debates break out anymore. This isn’t a good thing and there shouldn’t be such a huge divide amongst Arsenal fans???
I myself have been in a few heated arguments at the grove and its always a Wenger apologist turning around shouting back at us, getting angry with what we are saying.
Twice its nearly turned into a fight with the AKB’s actually wanting to fight due to hearing negative comments made about the Le Boss.
Every game I hear the same shouting at one another and on occasion’s stewards running in too split fights up. Every time the arguments are about Wenger , why he didn’t sign anyone or basically someone shouting out abuse aimed at the Manager.
During the Blackburn game it got so bad that stewards had to run in and calm things down and split up various fights. All of this caused by someone who got that angry with what he was hearing he wanted to fight everyone in close proximity.
It doesn’t stop there , the heated exchanges continue outside also. During the cup final there were reports of various fights in the ground and on route back to the station. Saw a few myself on the way out and know of friends that got in fights on the way back to Wembley park! Even in the ground there were fans shouting at one another regarding Wenger!

Its got to the point now that I know the next home game if we don’t win it will kick off again, and again all down to the divide in fans over the Manager.

I have never seen this kind of thing before in all my years of going the arsenal. The divide is so strong now that at games its like we have home and away fans standing together.

Has it really got that bad that not only is the Le Boss killing the club he is also causing us to fight each other?

It feels unique.

When Graham was sacked I got the feeling most fans felt he would still win us Cups but had run his course in the league and a new broom was needed.
Cannot remember fights about it.

Same with Neil, he was seen to have had his time.

Don Howe there were protests against the board but the fans were united in feeling Howe had been hard done by.

Rioch some felt was hard done by only having been given a year but fans were fed stories through the press that key players were unhappy so accepted it in the main.

There is a divide amongst the Forums too.

Check out Vital Football's Arsenal site, much more pro-Wenger, whereas Arsenal Times is similar to here with most feeling a big squad shake up is needed and feeling Wenger is failing or needs to go.

My hunch is that most fans over 30 are more willing to see Wenger go, under 30's have known mainly Wenger and are more tied in to him.

No it's just thugs being thugs, how anyone can blame wenger for twats getting lairy with each other is beyond me.

They should grow up, we have soldiers dying almost everyday in a place they would never have wanted to go and many more losing one or more limbs yet when you see them on tv they act with impeccable dignity.

A lot of them then go and do much for charities even after having their lives irrevocably changed.

And here we have some supporters who get pissed and moan that we haven't won a trophy for a few years, fuck me, I despair sometimes.

There have always been thugs at football mate, it used to be part of the game in a sick kind of way.

This is different. Its been gradually getting worse and worse this season. Its not a coincidence that every time its about the manager. This isn’t just thugs getting their kicks trust me.
Its fans having such strong views it boils into anger and frustration. In the end the fans turn on each other due to having such different views regarding the Manager.
We can blame it on thugs but its not as simple as that.

The problem is the fans who cant debate. During the game, the fans should be trying to get behind the team and thats one thing we rarely do, even away our support isn't that great these days.

As I previously have said, me and the guy next to me have different views, we discuss them at half time, can get heated but we get our points across, it then gets to the stage we agree with eachother or we agree to disagree, but one this that we do have in common is we are Arsenal.

From what I have seen, the people who are currently anti Wenger are shouting out stuff like "Wenger you're a cun%" and to be fair that really isn't constructive so I can see why people react to that.

that corner i thought it was for the red action, the intention of bringing even more fun and noise to match days..

but yeah some of the shouting out is pointless, from certain individuals. i had a guy behind me screaming on his own about wenger and getting someone knew in.

When you say "young lad", how young was he? As someone said already the over 30's seem to accept that Wenger may have nothing left to offer whereas the younger supporters seem to be clinging onto him. I'm just wondering if this fits this or is it too general?

Its no surprise that it’s the older fans that are shouting out things about Wenger, myself included. A old guy who has had his season ticket for 40+ years shouts out about Wenger and then gets a younger fan wanting to fight him because of it!

Sorry but that aint fucking right.

Its one thing shouting at Wenger but another having a Wenger fan wanting to fight you because of it!

The Red corner used to be a happy place with nearly everyone in support of Wenger. Sadly its not the case anymore. More and more fans are getting annoyed and if they cant express there anger without idiots wanting to fight them for it , where can they?

Through the years there have always been players that fans in the terraces shout about and call a *word censored*. Its been going on for decades ffs. What makes Wenger any different, is he really that much of a god that it causes people to fight if we dare call him a *word censored*!

You mean the red section actually stopped throwing that ball around long enough during the game to find time to argue with themselves?

Don't want to be disrespectful here, but the point about the soldiers dying in this thread is ironic. Those poor lads and girls are in a place where there is no freedom of speech or expression. Where women have no rights on education or employment. In this part of the world we take those freedoms for granted, including the right to express dissatisfaction with how our football team is being run.

He was about 20. I am in my 30's and the old guy was about 50. The younger one wanted to fight all of us.
