PRAGUE - CHUNKYS 3 DAY TOUR !!

Post by Chunky The Gooner »

Well I did warn Dicko and Mas that Id have never seen Arsenal win outside London (true! Ive been to some shit away games as well !) and it continued again in Prague.

The Chunky jinx ? I dont think so. If you thought that the players were cold then the fans were fucking freezing. No wonder the Slavia fans do that hopping up and down shit , It was probably the best way of keeping warm. I flew out from Heathrow on Tuesday afternoon and got to Prague bought a 3 day travelcard and made my way to Wenslas Square where my hotel was. When I got to the hotel which was the 4* Ramada ( I think that they painted on 2 stars themselves) we was told there was only a kingsized bed. After complaining they agreed to give it to the next poor sod who arrived and we finally got our single beds. Bags down and then out again to explore Prague. This way my first trip to Prague and I wanted to see the crack er oops I mean craic.

Debenhams, C+A , Marks + Spencers and Tesco. It was good to see the Czech shops! My mate was flying out later that day so we met up with him for a few drinks. We ended up on the Tuesday night at Rocky O'Reilly's Irish bar. The gooners were in there and singing away which didn't please the bouncer at all . It was the first time I had been in an Irish bar where the staff were moaning about the noise!! It was all in good spirits and hats off to all the singers especially the 2 guys who were intent on singing "FLAMINI FLAMINI" at any break between the other chants. In the end the bouncer turned up the music to try and drown us out but it didnt work and we stayed there until closing time. I saw a few of the Rocket crowd in there and I dont know your names but Hello anyway!

On my way back to my hotel I was asked if I wanted any Cocaine and then I got an offer I had to refuse! . The man outside the stripclub said the following to us " Come on guys you get free entry !!! (didnt know if that was to into the club or the girl ) 5 free drinks ,a free show and if you dont like it you can just leave!. Yeah right! Can you imagine 5 pints later and a stripper doing a turn then you decide to leave without paying a penny! Im sure the bouncers would PERSUADE you to stay a bit longer and part with some or even all your money. I was always told if its too good to be true then it probably is but I never did find out :( . So if any Gooners did find out then Id love to hear the stories just for research purposes of course.

Wednesday morning and I managed to get up 15 minutes before breakfast finished! But this is Chunky we are talking about and I was more than ready for the day ahead after my 15 minute breakfast. Met up for a few drinks with my mate Dave who managed to win the Prague trip on the Arsenal website (lucky git !) . In the afternoon I headed to Caffreys Irish bar in the old town next to the George and Dragon. I met Jesper in there and hes a great laugh and had a few more drinks!. I also met Southampton Gooner in there too for the first time. The Danish guys were great fun and so were the Dublin Gooners in there too.

I said goodbye to Jesper and then set off to meet up with Dicko and her mate Mas and we headed to the game together. When we finally got to the ground near the coach park we bumped into Jesper and the Danish gooners again getting of their coaches! . Inside the ground I finally met Wayno. Not much I can say about the match part from it was cold and we had one shot which was a header! After the game we walked back to The George and Dragon . Yes walked back through all those streets . We didnt know where we were going and there was about 20 of us altogether and none of us had a clue until Dicko pointed out that we was near the bridge.

We had some drinks in the G + D and we were all absolutely soaked. After a while we met up with Wayno again in Legends bar and drank some more! As for the story with Dicko and links to pictures of Elvis , Blue Suede Shoes , Hound Dogs. Although he needs to put up a black leather jacket as well !!! Well you will just have to ask WAYNO nicely to tell you

A massive thanks to Dicko ( am I banned from any more European trips?!) Mas ( Go shit your eyes out!) , Jesper and the Danish Gooners (See you at the Spurs match) Wayno ( A funny funny man) and all the other travelling Gooners who had fun in Prague despite a piss poor match and piss poor weather

to go all the way to prague and to spend your drinking time in a fake english pub and a fake irish pub is a fucking obscenity and you deserved to be pissed upon.

i hope you did at least try one or two non touristy bars and local czech beers.

and if you did not that is one of the reasons (i`m thinking of the likes of rilo ii) i talk in contemptuous terms about moronic lager louts and i repeat the term has nothing to with suggestions of hooliganism.

yes, i know, each to their own but i will never understand the point of going abroad to drink crap beer in crap tourist pubs at crap rip off prices and even more so in prague.

Sorry mate your talking to the bloke with no memory.
One was Something Jazz or blues bar. Nice guy working behind bar who liked the English didn't like Germans. Near old town but down some side street. Beer was 1/2 the price of old town. Aint got a clue what I was drinking, but it had a long name with about 20 A's and 15 B's in it. Other local place was near coach pick up point was more like a small cafe that sold beer. But I was so full of beer by then I had a vodka.
No help at all I know. Sorry

If your there with Mrs I can recomend the Opra house for Jazz Brunch on a Sunday. About £20 for a buffet that is out of this world, great service and free bubbly if you want it. (I paid for red wine)
Very very nice place and food

What the fuck is wrong with you? You drink whatever and wherever you want to and I drink whatever and wherever I want to. As for saying I deserved to be pissed upon is unreal. If you drink real ale good luck to you but it was my trip and Im old enough to do what I want to thank you very much. I did go to 2 Czech bars actually one down the road from Wenslas Square and one we went into let us sit down for 20 minutes before we were told it was closed ! I drink Vodka actually so your assumption of me drinking crap beer in a crap tourist pub at a crap rip off price was wrong . The one true thing you said in your post is "each to their own"

correction. drinking crap vodka probably in crap tourist pub at crap rip off tourist prices.

what vodka were you drinking out of interest. if bog standard smirnoff then definitely crap.

never said you did not have choice in same way as i am entitled to my opinion and that is anyone going to prague and hangs out at fake irish pubs and fake english pubs is moronic in their lack of taste adventure and imagination

put it this way - i dont have to enter the george and dragon to know exactly what it is going to be like and to know it will be serving crap beer and probably crap vodka and be full of tourists cos no average local would be seen dead in it.. but you tell me what eg u fleku is like. you probably dont have a clue.

so you have been to prague but can you honestly say you have experienced prague. maybe you have but not by going to crap tourist pubs but actually i don`t care cos the more the lager louts play safe and dont venture out the better it is for old farts like myself and my mates.
