Fabregas... if it's not Barca at it it's...

£35m?

What happened to the Arsenal that rinsed the fuck out of other clubs in the transfer market?

Andy Carrol was £35m.

<edit>

Just to add, I'd rather sell him to Real Madrid than those *word censored* at Barca.

So so so so so so so so fed up reading about this now. It's a joke. He's had a bad season this year with injuries, being played when he shouldn't and his general attitude has looked bad.

Granted it was only 1 game but I thought our midfield looked "together" on Sunday against United. Song, Willshire, Ramsey.

I'm divided between wanting us to cash in on him, has he burned out? Are his hammys about to snap, is he committed to us (going from last summer seemingly not). Or getting him to stay. A good summer off, recapture his form, let his body heal from the season.

Jury is out for me.

He's going to go ,hopefully a big Real bid might make Barca up the ante.

When Cesc says he ONLY will go to Barca it kind of removes our bargaining tools !

I'm sure Wenger said give me 1 more season then il let it go !

1. He wont go to madrid

2. Barca wont be able to afford him unless a deal was struck at a pre-arranged price last summer

3. £35m they are having a laff

4. Cesc is without question our best and most important player and selling him would be another reason for us to be labelled as a selling club. All clubs sell big players somewhere along the line but when your club constantly replaces them with nobodys (or unproven players for the pc brigade  ) every single time then it sends out the wrong message to our existing players, any potential transfer targets, to sponsors and to the fans.

Listen I love cesc as a player and I am disappointed at the way some fans have turned on him since he dared to suggest that he wanted to return home last summer to play for the best team in the world :( At that time I said I didnt want him sold and that remains the case but only if he is committed to the club 100% while he is at the club. Personally I feel that wenger and the club have short-changed him by asking him to carry donkeys like diaby, bedtner, denilson etc every single season. That being said I also feel that if he goes to the club this summer and demands a move then he should realise that he should only be sold if our asking price is met and that he will not be allowed to pick his preferred destination - best offer wins.

The thing that is most being forgotten/ignored about cesc's situation is that for me it says that he has lost faith in wenger and his little "project".....he aint the only one

He's been average most of this season, 45 million would be more like it though looking at him lately he could well fail a medical.

Agree with you augie on all your points.

Cesc has effectively been 'conned' into staying at the club, much the same way as the fans have been conned for the past 5 years.

Regardless of his performance this season, he is by a long mile THE best player we have. Yes, I do believe that he wants to go to Barcelona (dont for one minute he will even consider goint to Madrid or Chelsea), but we have kinda missed the boat as far as getting a mega transfer deal from Barca.

I think we should hold on to Fabregas for at least another 2 seasons - yes it will cost us in terms of giving him an even better contract, but it could work out for us in the long run as we can develop the squad in preparation for his departure, and his asking price will actually go up when Barca actually need him - they really dont need him yet with their current squad.

For this to happen effectively, we need a radical rethink from the board (I think Kroenke may actually force the issue) AND Wenger has some brain surgery to remove his stubborn streak.

spot on.
you´re right, mate.
The only thing I doubt is that Barca can´t afford him. They will scramble up enough money. And maybe there will be a player included in the trade like Krkic.

The reason we are still a selling club is what is happening on the pitch. What progress has Cesc seen in the last 6 years?.He is still playing alongside the likes of Denilshit Diaby Eboue Almunia and Bendtner. His heart must have dropped when he saw them getting long term contracts. We are a club that spent £12m on tranfers last summer. He sees a manager who says he is happy to finish 2nd.Cesc is ambitious the club isnt.He looks at what PV and Henry won when they left the club

agreed with augie. 35m is nothing these days- if we force them into a £50m bid we can build our new team around wilshere and sign a couple of defenders and a replacement for cesc.
And seeing as Nasri is likely to leave (man city?, barca?) wenger will have enough money to get a decent striker who will score 20 a season and won't get injured every other game

Sell cesc and use the money to buy a proper CF with pace (unless he thinks walcott is up to the task at which point sign a winger).

Out: Cesc, denilson, average Al and squillaci
In: New striker, scott parker and sakho

Drop RvP into the cesc/shrek role and line up like this:

********SCZ*********
sagna sakho vermaelen clichy
***parker wilshere*****
theo****RvP****Nas
********CF**********

I am fucking ace at football manager 8)

I get the feeling we are gonna have about 200 different Fabregas threads on here this summer (all basically saying the same thing) so I might just set up one as the "Official Cesc transfer bollocks" thread and sticky it. We'll see how it goes.

If he wants to go then let him go, as good as he has been and as good a footballer he is I don't want anyone at the club who doesn't want to be here. Also his injuries have increased season-by-season so this may be a good time to cash in. I'd love a deal that saw us get £15 million plus Mascherano and Bojan. We can then let go of Rosicky, Denilson and Diaby as we'll have the second defensive midfielder who we really need and a very good forward player to come in, and we can build our midfield around Wilshere and Rambo.

-----------------Sczesny---------------

---Sagna---Cahill------Vermaelen----Clichy

-----------------Mascherano-----------------
--------Ramsey/Song---------Wilshere--------

----Walcott-----------------------------Nasri

----------------------RVP---------------------

Bench: Flappy, Djourou, Gibbs, Ramsey/Song, Arshavin, Bojan, New Striker
