If it is possible to have a regret from that day, it was the fact the match was on a Friday night, closely followed by a week's school holiday, so by the time I actually got back to school to stick it to all the glory hunting Liverpool 'fans', ten days had passed and nobody else cared any more! (except me)
Just watched some of it on youtube again. Blimey where did that 22 years go ! It does seem so recent. i remember being at work that morning and all of the papers were saying we had no chance at all. Watched it round my girlfriends and went to the pub , had too much to drink and had to go outside and sit down !!!! how funny.
A proper team that would fight for each other , spirit , bottle , togetherness (pub etc) but they really had the fight and the passion .
Finally the manager George Graham , he was class , he is an Arsenal legend (70/71 double etc) , wish we had the equivalent now.
I bet some of those players remember this game today as we do , it does mean that much doesn't it. Proud always to be Arsenal.

I still get shivers down my spine now even thinking about it.
I went to the 20th anniversary dinner with Mike Francis and Kev (Gooner Ed) and even though it was a grainy video we were all watching, I still got really emotional as John Lukic bowled the ball out to Lee Dixon etc. . . . .
Bit sad for a grown man but what a night that was!!!!

Did anyone hear the Arsenal Tuesday club podcast last week where "a friend" was talking to Richardson and feared he may have had to come off injured.
Richardon replied that he wasn't injured. He wanted to gather the players around as they were playing to much football and Arsenal wasn't a passing team but a long ball side. He wanted the players to start hitting the box more and putting them under pressure!

Ironically he'd probably be perfect for the current system we play: lone man up fron that holds up the ball and allows the midfield players to get forward. Plus the guy was superb in the air (although with our full-backs, he'd probably never get the chance to show that!!:banghead: ). Agree with others, very under-rated by many at the time (probably inlcuding me and other gooners), but a superb player during most of his Arsenal career.

The greatest day ive ever had supporting Arsenal. I was lucky enough to be there that night with 3 mates sat right behind that goal.
Nothing will ever beat that night for me, not even a European Cup win now. The joy everyone felt when MT scored was unbelievable. For some reason, I felt sure the referee was going to blow for offside or a foul.
He had missed an exact same chance 10 mins earlier and everyone thought that was that.
Its hard to explain to those that perhaps weren't born then.
That was when we had players who cared about playing for the shirt and knew what it meant.
And as supporters we really felt a part of it all, like we were all in it together.
After leaving Enfield at 2pm, we found ourselves stuck in traffic that wasn't moving on the M6 at about 7.15 and a good hour away and were deciding whether we should turn off and watch it in a nearby pub, when a bloke in his van asked us if we were going to the game.
As we only knew the motorways to Liverpool, he told us to take the next turn off and head towards Chester and through the Birkenhead tunnel. Not knowing where we were going we though, we felt we had to take a chance and hope he was right and not feeding us a line.
Anyway, thanks to that bloke whoever you are, we got to the ground missing only the first 15 mins when some didnt arrive till half time.
The rest as they say is history!
