Nasri Contract situation

Post by Irish Gooner »

I read on another Arsenal forum that we offered 90k a week and he's demanding 110k a week and parity with Fabregas.

I'll take that with a pinch of salt, but looking at comments made by Wenger, that "one things for sure he definitely wont go to United", it looks like he will go some where else?
Cant believe it really, I wasnt expecting it. If true he really is a *word censored* of the highest order to be demanding 110k a week AFTER THE SEASON WE'VE HAD. And after the last few years.

Lets not delude ourselves the guy has been average up until some great form for half the season and then played a big role in our downfall with shit form. Of course we dont want to lose him, and it sends the wrong message selling him, but if these demands are though, I cant see any other result.

Fuck me, we refused to pay Ashley Cole 55k a week even after it was agreed, now we're having to pay 110k a week for players who have a good patch of form, and 60k a week for dross like Denilson and Bendter.... :banghead:

Football really is fucked. These greedy players never have enough.

I wouldnt pay Barry or Denilson 60k a year. Most people dont earn that, and most footballers dont deserve it. Yet they get that multiplied by 52 times.

If he wants that much, sell 7-10 of the crap, and give it to him. And give it to 3-4 new signings too. :banghead:

Fucking wage budget :banghead:

Thank you City and Chelsea for inflating the transfer market. Nasri knows damn well he can get it if Arsenal really want him, and if not then he can easily find someone who will pay it. We're basically being held at gunpoint by a player who has showed amazing form as well as poor form.

Parity with Fabregas is not deserved.

It's the modern day footballer unfortunatly. Personally I'd pay him it and get rid of the dross. It actually annoys me more the sort of garbage we pay 50k - 60k a week to.

Cashley still gets stick (from me as well) over his "unreasonable" wage demands. But when all is said and done we should just have given him what he wanted.

Same with Nasri. Otherwise we'll end up paying £millions to take a chance on a promising youngster who may not be half as good - and still pay them £60k per week i.e. back to square one! If he was a squad player then by all means play hard ball. But when he is an essential part of the first team then we have to do whatever it takes.

The whole player wages thing is a big issue and something definitely needs to be done about it. But Arsenal can't do it on its own and while there are plenty of clubs willing to pay silly money then we just have to join them!

how do we know he is only asking for £110. He might be asking for 150 for all we know!

I can see the contract negotiations having a winning the league and/or champ league bonus in them, which reduces the wages.

If the players had half a brain, they should ask for an emirates cup bonus!!!

Though I don't believe this as there are no official quotes to back any of this crap up and it has come from the mail so probably bolloks anyway - BUT if it is that wage demand then he can Piss off along with Denilson and co

Cashley wanted to leave Arsenal and join JT and Lamps at Chelsea..if it wasn't the money it would have been some other concocted reason....He had to be let leave, not just for him but for Arsenal also..Nasri to me is vital to Arsenal's future but apparently he sees it that way too and believes he has the club over a barrel... I wouldn't pay his demands but not on the grounds of wage srtucture but on the grounds of achievement.. Produce the trophies and we will talk again. Anyway if he wants to be on parity with Cesc he will have to go to Barcelona or Eastlands with him':('.

I know the world has moved on from the days when Tony Adams signed whichever contract was put in front of him but when, after the season we've had, a player's first priority is ensuring that he's mega-rich rather than just super-rich, then I'm tempted to let him go. If he was half as stubborn on the pitch I might think again but his performance are very up and down.

I also worry about the effect on players like Wilshere and Ramsey. How would they feel, working their nuts off, watching Nasri swan about on twice what they're on?

Ramsey and Wilsh will get their contratcs bumped up too but not yet - they are not even in the 20's. I still think the nasri situ is botched up more than it needs to be.

Then again Wenger is reputedly the 3rd highest paid manager in Europe, so does the whole thing stink of hypocrisy.
