Had his testimonial this weekend where many Nigerian and African stars turned out....

But kolo Toure played......is that not in breach of his banning order?

Could be,one of the Pakistani cricketers that was banned is apparently in the shit for turning out for Addington C.C.,a little village side in Surrey.

Surely he's only banned from FIFA/UEFA organised competitions? As this was neither, he should be alright.

Otherwise, you could say that knocking a ball around the local park would be in breach of the ban, too.

All football and the testimonial would have needed a bare minimum Nigerian FA sanctions to be played.

I think it would have been ok if it had been a friendly. The problem was that it was a league match.

I guess the same is true for Kolo. It was only a testimonial.

Apart from the marvellous 18 minutes at Stamford Bridge and the Sheffield Utd piss take with Overmars, what was your favourite Kanu goal or moment?

I remember the 5-1 thrashing of Deportivo in the UEFA Cup and a goal he got at the North Bank where he dummied the keeper before going round him to score the 4th or 5th I think.
Personally I think there was more good than bad to remember him by. I know he was regarded as lazy but I enjoyed his time with us

That was great! My favourite too, although I also loved the Middlesbrough
away goal when he flicked the ball in with his heel.

2003 F.A. Cup Final,we were sitting right at the front, along the touchline.Kanu was jogging up and down warming up,so I shouted to him,and he looked over, smiled and gave me a "thumbs up." Fair play to him. Most of the current wankers would just blank you!!!

That season (1999/00), we had Bergkamp, Henry, Suker, Kanu and Overmars! Madness really. I'm sure I remember there was one game at Highbury where Bergkamp and Henry came on for Suker and Kanu - hugely talented squad. Amazing they didn't win anything that season.

As for the topic, I'm a big Kanu fan. Yes, often lazy at times, but scored some of the greatest ever goals in the history of AFC and was a genuinely nice guy to boot.

The goal at Boro - you don't see back-heels from that far out every day and see them work even less often. Wonderful goal really. It's hard not to rate the third goal of that winning nat-trick at the Bridge as his best goal but this one pips it at the post for me.
