Theo man of the match

Theo man of the match

Post by Chippy »

Seems a consensus in the press that Theo was man of the match in the U21s yesterday and Psycho seems to be in love with him  and Arsenal :D

Love the bit about Theo trying to wrestle the ball from Milner

Did anyone see the game :?:

An excerpt from Stuart Pearce interview:

His appetite to play the game was there. He's full of it at the minute and has been all season. He was a thorn in their side the whole game. He's a box of tricks, he's game and he wants to improve the whole time. He's at a fantastic club with a fantastic manager and he couldn't be doing any better."

I wouldn't want to sit near Theo in the dressing room or on the club coach. :)

Given his MOTM performance yesterday, his good form for us and the injury to Owen, what odds on a call-up for Theo for the England v Croatia match??

My bet is McClown would play safe (in terms of tabloid reaction) and choose mediocre, over-priced Darren Bent or non-scoring Andy Johnson before going for the much more talented and in-form Theo.

Looks like only one Arsenal benchwarmer will be scoring at Wembley on Wednesday night.

THEO IS NOWHERE NEAR READY FOR THE FULL ENGLAND TEAM YET. CERTAINLY NOT AS AN OUT AND OUT STRIKER, BECAUSE HIS FINISHING ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH.

YES, THEO WAS MAN OF THE MATCH BUT IN TRUTH, THAT WASN'T SAYING MUCH. THE LAD HAD THREE OF FOUR RUNS AT THE OPPOSITION DEFENCE WHICH WERE ALL STOPPED ILLEGALLY. HOWEVER, HIS CROSSING WAS AGAIN POOR AND HE ALSO HAD THREE OR FOUR DECENT CHANCES WHICH HE FAILED TO TAKE. UNLIKE WENGER, I STILL WONDER WHETHER HE HAS THE PREDITORY INSTINCTS TO PLAY THAT ROLE FOR ARSENAL, LET ALONE ENGLAND, AT THE MOMENT.

I'M NOT SAYING THAT HE WON'T EVENTUALLY TURN INTO A GREAT STRIKER - MUCH LIKE HENRY DID - BUT AT THE MOMENT ANY MENTION OF HIM BEING READY FOR THE FULL ENGLAND TEAM IS PURE FANTASY AND JUST WISHFUL THINKING.

what do you mean "let alone england" if we played england i wouldn't expect anything less than a comfortable 3-0 win, our reserves would give them a run for their money. He's more than ready for that sack of shit we call our national team, the question is; when will he be ready for The Arsenal?

BUT IF WE PLAYED ENGLAND THEO WOULD PROBABLY NOT START, AND CERTAINLY NOT DOWN THE MIDDLE.

NOWHERE DID I SAY ARSENAL COULDN'T BEAT ENGLAND. WHAT I DID WRITE WAS THAT THEO ISN'T READY TO PLAY UP FRONT FOR ARSENAL OR ENGLAND, AND STATED THE REASONS WHY.

OR ARE YOU ON A WIND-UP UFG? :?

You miss the point, my Hating friend. I agree Theo is a long way short of being the finished article (and I think Sven was mad to pick him for the WC squad) but England have very few options up front. And given a choice, right now, between Bent, Johnson and Theo, I'd go for Theo - he wouldn't start but if England needed someone to run at tired defenders for 20 minutes at the end, who better than Theo?

And if it's fantasy to think of Theo playing for England now, I'm in good company - AW said it a few weeks ago.

i agree. I think its fair to say that we ALL want Theo to fullfill his potential because we've seen what he can do - in flashes albeit. I must admit at the beginning of the seaon I was doubting whether Theo really had the consistancy to play for us. I went up to blackburn and decided to watch Theo as closely as I can. His movemen, in terms of creating space, isn't great, but wants he's set free and running, blackburn shit themselves. what really frustrates me at the minute is the fact that he'll beat 2,3,4 players but his runs always seem to end in a foul. Not his fault obviously, but how often did we see theirry beat 2,3,4 people and then have a shot?...most times! perhaps when he builds up his strength the final pass or shot will come. its just not quitr there yet...consistantly anyway.

as for engerland. i say get him in. at least theo would keep me awake. so so boring watching the national side most (every) times. whether he is ready or not, i think the above says it all. although having said that, the standard required to play for england is a lot lower than whats needed to play for us...so why not. Theo AND Eddy on wednesday night...brilliant!
