Was at both games.

The support up at Villa Park was top notch, remember getting up there real early going in a few pubs.

Remember when Charlie Nicholas scoring at the holt end and plenty of Arsenal coming on the pitch at that end.

Great turn out that night, those days are long gone.

Was at both, probably one of the best away showings from us in the first game at Villa Park I've ever seen. Arsenal all over the ground, including the Holte End but those in there got ejected pretty sharpish by the old bill as far as I remember. That was the first time I heard the "Mick Said To Paddy" song sung by 1000s, sounded rather impressive  A great night but typical of us at the time we blew it completely in the replay at Highbury and lost 2-1 :?

I remember the replay as being one of the most depressing games i ever saw. However it was eclipsed by a 3-0 defeat at Luton a few weeks later.

I remember the away leg really well. Packed in our end and as others have said, I remember a large mob of Gooners down their end too. The walk back to the station afterwards was a tad hairy I seem to remember!!

Great days :barscarf:

That performance on their bastard plastic pitch was truly shocking. One of the few times nearly all of our away following booed them off and gave them major grief.

Agree with everything that has been said.

The support was awesome in the away leg, but the home game absolutely destroyed my 21st Birthday, which was shortly after that.

Luton and the plastic pitch!!! Wasn't the 3-0 the 2nd replay, and we played them 4 times in a month?

What a centenary season that was - even west ham finished above us. Oh the shame!

The team was average in those days - but the good times were just around the corner, although I don't think anyone really believed it, but the support in those days was first class, imo.

Or did it just seem that way because I was young and foolish?

the support in those days was second to none. Those who were going then will know what i mean.

Was that the Luton game when West Hams match at Birmingham was called off and they ended up in our end at Kenilworth Road, to have a pop at us.
There was a big firm of Gooners in the Luton end and it kicked off big time there. When they were escorted down to the away end it kicked off again with the ICF.

Was at both games against Villa and the 0-3 at Luton.

Never seen us take more away than we did that night at Villa Park. It was like everyone and I mean everyone decided to go to that particular game. Brilliant night. F*cked it up badly though in the replay.....

Luton away on the plastic though was one of those games you go to kind of knowing we were going to lose.... Sh*te town and never did like those w*nkers!

I always remembered that as "Jesus said Paddy" or are we talking about a different song?

Was that Luton cup game the one where the police stood us all in one pen of the stand? If it was it was so cramped that I couldnt even clap when the team came out.

The Villa game my brothers car had a puncture and by the time we fixed it it was about 6pm we made it into the ground at Villa park 5 mins after KO. I think it was a 7.30 ko.....1hr 35mins from Finchley to Birmingham in an old Talbot Alpine

Was also at that game. Think we were in our shaded yellow away shirt.

Seem to remember Rixy mising an easy chance in the second half in front of the away fans.

Huge number of Gooners there that night.
