As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
I HAVE JUST FINISHED READING THE LAST ISSUE OF THE GOONER (No.179) AND CAME ACROSS A WONDERFULLY WRITTEN PIECE THAT I FEEL ALL GOONERS SHOULD TRY AND READ.
THE ARTICLE IS ENTITLED 'HIGHBURY HALLOWEEN' BY ROBERT RONSSON AND TELLS THE STORY OF AN IMAGINARY MEETING BETWEEN YOUNG CESC FABREGAS AND THE LATE, GREAT GEORDIE ARMSTRONG. I FOUND IT A TRUELY MOVING PIECE AND WONDER IF ANYONE ELSE READ IT AND FELT THE SAME.
I WOULD SUGGEST THAT THOSE PEOPLE WHO DO SUBSCRIBE TO THE FANZINE RE-READ IT TO REFRESH THEIR MEMORIES. I ALSO THINK IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO PUT THE ITEM UP ON THE MAIN PAGE OF THE ON-LINE GOONER FOR THOSE THAT DON'T SUBSCRIBE TO THE MAG.
MY CONGRATULATIONS GO TO THE WRITER ROBERT RONSSON FOR A QUALITY PIECE OF WORK.
I thought it was cleverly written and well thought out. It is thought that Highbury was haunted, for years after his death, by Herbert Chapman's ghost. Stories from the staff of the time tell us that they could still hear his deliberate, slow, footsteps through the corridors.
Yeh i read that and I thought that it was excellent.
In a strange way I could picture that happening, Cesc wondering around Highbury, Owe struck by the place.
Obviously the pixy juice i couldnt see,
but it was a nice story.
