Now is the summer of our discontent

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Now is the summer of our discontent

Post by lowerwest »

could this possibily be the worst summer ever? the one where the chickens really came home to roost. theres been nothing but doom and gloom so far....i need cheering up. lets post anything positive here and get ourselves up for the new season.

bendtner and almunia going must be a good start surely.[/b]

doom and gloom

Post by lowerwest »

anyone noticed how "we re going to have a busy summer" have suddenly morphed into "maybe one or two additions" through to "last season was my worst" finishing with "i have total belief in the current group". i dont actually think i can watch the dilution of what was once so perfect to the pale shadow i have been forced to watch in the last 5 years.
remember we moved to the emirates to allow us to compete with the big boys financially....what a total and utter joke. we know whats coming cesc will go and ramsey will be his replacement. for someone so intelligent how can wenger be the fall guy for this....or does he believe himself these days. very very worrying..

I can't wait for Wenger and Gazidis to try and explain their lies about signings at the end of last season when ST renewals were ongoing. Arsenal Pride of London? Liars of London more like, rotten to the core, with the fans being the only bright point.

rotten to the core

Post by lowerwest »

yeah i cant disagree with any of that....some of us were prepared to give wenger a last chance but its the usual crap and drivel isnt it. contrast with what dalglish is doing at liverpool....investing in youthful british talent thats going to get them places i think. i honestly think the only thing that will change it is if we finish outside the top 4 for a season or two cos thats all we are budgeted for. as it stands with cesc staying we need 3 players at least...heres betting we wont get them.

Guys, this is what I tried to warn everyone about in April and May. The exact words that came out of Wenger's mouth were virtually identical to those from two and three years ago at the same time of the season.

Go on to the archives on Arsehole.com and look up his post match reaction to the 1-2 at Old Trafford in 2008 and the 1-4 stuffing at home to Chelsea a year later. Laced with the same comments as in 2011.

The season ticket money rolls in, the players report back to pre-season training, they flatten a bunch of part-timers from Austria / Malaysia / Timbuctoo, and all his softness reappears. "We were very close", "one or two additions", "internal options", "'x' is like a new signing", "true to our beliefs", "we have learned a lot", "x,y and z are more mature now" etc etc

Can I ask why anyone would chose to believe the same comments three years later ?

This manager is amongst the most emotionally weak in top class football - he does not know how to bomb out the "never will be's" in a way that Ferguson did with the likes of Kieran Richardson. He can't accept that some players just don't take the next step from the age of 18 & 19 - he lives with the hope that Vela will be a world beater at 28 and that suddenly Fabianski will become a top class keeper, when the watching world knows it simply won't happen. Look how long we 'nurtured' the likes of Randall, Simpson etc before they were eventually sold. How long will we have Mannone kicking around ?

The guy is like a self-harmer - in April & May he'll be at his wits end once more wondering why life is so miserable, but rather than confront the very issues making his life a misery, he'll revert to type time and time again.

Please go back and read his April and May ramblings from 2007 onwards and marry them up against what actually happened in the transfer window that immediately followed.

The guy is incapable of ever turning Arsenal into a trophy winning side again. It's not stubborness either; it's weakness

I honestly cant see him improving our squad!!!!! :banghead:

The man is clearly deluded & up his own arse so unable to see what we all can!!!

Although apart from Liverpool no-one has done much business apart from
the team we ALL have to catch and pass

MAN URE.

He's done his business, on pre season tour with his squad topped up & ready.

Complete twat that Ferguson!!!!
