betting help
I put a 25each way bet in a horse, its came in second so I got 88 back.
I'm not that experienced in betting so it that right or was I screwed?

Although if it was 1/5 the odds, he's just screwed the bookies.Eboue-Why? wrote:Normally when you go each way, you get a quarter of the odds for finishing 2nd 3rd or 4th if it's a larger field. Did you put £25 e/w i.e your stake was £50?
If so, divide the odds by 4 and multiply by 25 then add on 25. That should come to 88!!
Just out of interest what was the race/horse?IW8Goalmachine wrote:Cheers lads I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to horse betsNumber 5 wrote:Yeah, should be £87.50 return on 10/1 at a quarter of the odds.
I can look up the tote return if you want. Be be warned though sometimes it can be significantly larger than the SP.

Cheers mate yeah I put 50 on altogether. The e/w thing has never been explained to me so hopefully I won't look the fool anymore!Eboue-Why? wrote:Normally when you go each way, you get a quarter of the odds for finishing 2nd 3rd or 4th if it's a larger field. You did better taking the price. It went off at 13/2 so I suspect a fair few people steamed into it.IW8Goalmachine wrote:It was the 17:25 galway races the horse was wise old owlNumber 5 wrote:Just out of interest what was the race/horse?IW8Goalmachine wrote:Cheers lads I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to horse betsNumber 5 wrote:Yeah, should be £87.50 return on 10/1 at a quarter of the odds.

Place only paid £1.70 so you would have been very worse off that way.
