Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to sign

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to sign

Post by A dallying Gus Caesar »

The BBC website says that the young man is having a medical.

I know we need defenders etc, but this lad is real quality and an exciting addition.

Indeed, lets not sign young players!!!!

Idiot. You need both. He's a talent and I'ld rather him at us than any others. Of course we need defenders, but its a good signing.

I totally understand your sentiments, I would love to hear that we have signed Cahill, but this lad is top drawer. A footballing brain, a tough cookie and two good feet. He is not to be compared to some of the other young dross we have signed.

He'll wear number 33 apparently......

Hey I know he's not a defender but any signing is welcome at the moment and the lad is good :barscarf:

Welcome aboard young Alex

I hope the weight of expectation doesn't set the lad back as it did with Walcott.

From the limited amounts I've seen he looks far physically tougher than a lot of lads his age and compared to many of those we've brought through our own system.

Credit to Southampton too - an example of a small, provincial club that manages to bring through talent without needing a global scouting network and £20k per week contracts. Walcott, Bale, Ox - plus they seem to have an exciting crop of kids down there now too

Like theo walnut was when we signed him ? :banghead:

Rigsby nobody is saying that we shouldnt buy young players but even if the transfer kitty was 30-50m (as rumoured) plus whatever we got in from sales I would suggest to you that we dont have enough financial leeway to do both this summer. This coming season this squad is the most lacking in quality of any Arsenal squad over the past 20 years - we need absolutely proven players brought in to the team right now so I would suggest that buying 4 players of that calibre to address our shortcomings now makes a lot more sense than 2 proven players and 3 rookies. The 7-10m we are spending on the ox would be far better served (in my opinion at least) bringing in parker or adding to the money being used to buy a centre half

So this is the super quality the manager was talking about.... :banghead:

Another 17 kid from Division 3 to add to his pal Jenkinson...no disrespect to the lads but, good grief...

And it seems it amounts to 10m, well very pricey for an unproven kid when he wont sign a fucking defender that we need for a few million more.

If the *word censored* thinks this will have people onside he is very much mistaken.

Apparently his great-grandfather was the PM when we declared war on Germany to start the Second World War.

Perhaps he can add a bit of steel into the side especially when we're away at Stoke. Him vs Huth seems like destiny!
