Why should RVP stay?
Why should RVP stay?
I can't think of a reason, but if he was in front of you looking miserable after today's game, what would you say to him?

The only genuine reason I can think of (and it is laughable to even suggest it in today's mercenary world) is that he owes us and then some. His injury record since he joined us has been appaling and as someone once said, if he was a horse he would have been put down before now.
Last summer I suggested that I would actually lose some respect for cesc if he continued to stay with us despite the fact that as a club we have sold out and are now totally devoid of ambition and I suppose the same theory must now apply to rvp. Lets face reality here, players didnt sign for us cos we pay huge wages or anything - it is obvious that they signed for us to win honours and if we as a club take that realistic hope away then what is there left for the players ? The intelligent ambitious players are smart enough to know that they would be better off financially long term if they signed for a successful club on lower wages than a less successful on higher wages cos success brings bonuses, higher profile and endorsements and of course bigger demand for your services from other clubs which then leads to higher wages. Rvp is now at a club that is on a major slide and his profile will suffer as a result - he knows and everybody else knows that we will find it extremely hard to convince any quality player to join us given our current selling club profile so can rvp expect to win any trophies with us in the near future ? Doubtful and it wont take long for him to realise this and look to get out and whilst wenger may have had some success persuading cesc and henry to stay when they first looked to leave, I honestly cannot see rvp changing his mind as easily

No, the point is he will have more front than to stamp his feet about wanting more money or wanting medals, if he wants to move then so be it but he can't complain as he hasn't given the club good enough service IMO.
For all his ability he is no good to anyone injured for half a season every year, Robin is decent, he won't act the *word censored*, if he looked miserable then you assume its because the players are in turmoil due to the Summer, intact the club is in turmoil but I doubt he thinks that he needs to be elsewhere.
Anyway your point is irrelevant as no one would pay such an injury prone player 200k a week, there's one player at the club never involved in transfer saga's and there's a good reason for it, we need to be worried about Jack more than anyone else.

The major threat to the club is not missing out on the trophies, or not qualifying for the Champion's League. The real danger is losing your reputation in the minds of players and coaches around the world.
Missing out on a Champion's League spot can be overcome by working hard and making it the next year. Losing your club's high reputation and being deemed a 2nd tier, selling club, cannot be so easily overturned. I am afraid that we are already being seen as that type of club, and therefore we cannot attract top tier players, nor keep the ones we have. I am worried that it is already too late to turn around.

why does RVP owe us anything? we've paid him improved terms knowing he's made of glass, whenever he has been fit he's tended to be brilliant, showing that he wants to play. he also hasn't injured himself doing anything stupid, he's been hurt whilst playing football and our superb fitness team haven't improved his strength and conditioning to minimise risk of injury. it's a bit like asking heskey to return all those england caps because he was shit.
sooner we realise that loyalty is a thing of the past and stop having unrealistic expectations of players nowadays, the less the hurt will be. yes, it removes the romance of supporting your team as you need to love the individuals alongside the club but times have changed. god i'm depressed

looks like Gervinho only uses his left foot to stand on as well unfortunately, why can't they use both feet, what else do they spend their days learning to do?
