As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
"The easiest thing would have been to stay at Arsenal," he told Barça TV. "I'm the captain, playing every game. We are always in the Champions League, always fighting for titles.
"For all that, and the tough competition here, perhaps now might be the worst time to return to Barça. It's going to be really tough to make the starting XI, but I needed a new challenge in my life. I thought I'd stagnated a bit, and needed a change of scenery. I needed a special motivation to bring the best out of myself."
Interesting choice of words. So let me get this right - he was bored at Arsenal because we were just SO dominant and he just couldnt get himself motivated for those strolls in the park at Old Trafford, Stamford Brdige and Anfield where we'd usually win 3 or 4 goals to nil. Undertandable I guess. I guess u could say Wigan and QPR are fighting for titles too
Still, now he's willing to fight it out for little Barcelona - I'm sure he has "a special motivation" to see whether they can score double figures against the likes of Malaga and Almeria this season. Basically he's swapped fighting for trophies at Arsenal for fighting Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets at Barcelona!
Why slag him?
We'd have all done the same.
Oh I can hear the cries of derision all over the forum.
I still say you would.Who in their right mind
would stay at Arsenal and not want to play in
Barcelona at the momment, what evidence is
there to suggest that if you stayed you would
soon be winning titles again? NONE,NOTHING,
NADA,ZILTCH!!
Now in my normal embittered self I hope
he falls flat on his arse, but I can't see it
and I really don't blame him.
Makes sense to me. He is saying that he couldn't develop any more, because every season brought the same situation, and he couldn't see it improving. And that wasn't his fault, he needed to be in a better team which could genuinely challenge, not fall at the final hurdle every time.
I can't really get mad at Cesc about this, unlike Nasri he wisely kept his mouth shut and not gone out of his way to treat the club, the players or the fans with disrespect. I think it was obvious to anyone last season how fed up he was of the same old bullshit from our glorious leader, I think we would have loved to see him stand up to Wenger mind. But he is clearly grateful that we turned him into the world class player he is, just a shame we was surround my loads of shite and never got the trophies and titles a player of his quality deserved in our side.

What has Nasri said? Thought he, like Fabregas, hadn't said anything.
