Which Striker would you sign for Arsenal

Which Striker would you sign for Arsenal

Post by Babatunde »

It seems plenty of people think Theo Walcott should be playing up front? I know what they mean because of his speed etc and people are quick to compare him to Henry. There's a major difference though.
For one, Walcott is a crock. He's delicate and easily injured. Henry was a beast.
The major thing about playing Walcott up front as a 9 is that he cannot hold up the ball, he lacks the strength to do so.
Every major PL striker of the last ten years has the ability to hold it: Shearer, Henry, Bergkamp, Rooney, Van Nistelrooy, Drogba, Torres, every single one of them can hold the ball.

If you look at Kun Aguero he is also remarkably strong in the upper body. Therefore Arsenal desperately need a 9 who can hold it up but crucially, who attacks the ball in the area. RVP is quality but it's clear as day he is sick to the back teeth of Wenger (see interview last night and see his comments on VDV).

Therefore who do you think would be ideal?

Personally, I have always said the perfect striker for Arsenal is Karim Benzema. He has the lot, pace, power and finishing. Lukaku would have been a very good option but as usual, we missed out.

Another striker who is 100% gettable is Higuain of Real Madrid. He's fallen out with Mourinho and Perez wants to sell him. Great strength, and cares about scoring goals.

Honestly think the striker and creative midfielder are possibly the most important areas Arsenal need to address. *Defending? What's that? Koscielny is as good as Baresi!*

Its a tough one as there aren't that many out there. I still think Theo would do a great job.

Edison Cavani - Tall, strong & lethal infront of goal.

Probably get able for a cool 30-35 million. :barscarf:

Still think we need someone with strength that causes problems to defences and can hold the ball up and have pace.
Sadly Adebayor (the crunt) was fantastic at this.

So I'll go for Drobga.
Also stops him raping and scoring against us.

Think you make some pretty good points, theo would be the one to play off the striker who can hold the ball/flick it on.

Love higuain, top top striker not getting the minutes but mostly cos he missed last season with injuries(perfect fit!)

I really wanted dzeko last year, think he'll tear a few teams apart this yr

Some really good suggestions. So far I like Metalheadz shout best so far of Edinson Cavani, excellent shout.
The Dazza Bent one is interesting. I have no doubt he would get a hatful at Arsenal. Problem with him is though, he can't play football. That and he doesn't speak French.
Personally I think Benzema is tailor-made for Arsenal. Pace, power, finishing and speaks French.

I'd agree with you. However, we need to change the formation. Defoe wouldn't be able to lead the line.

Which is why I don't see Theo succeeding unless we change.

I have a few "mates" who are s***s fans, they reckon he doesn't do it against the top sides. And I reckon he is a *word censored*
