We were pants today
We were pants today
Sorry to start a new thread but I got home expecting to find stuff about how awful todays game was but see stuff saying December is now going to be OK and Diarra is the new Vieira.
We were crap. If we had played a good team we would have lost! This was the worst game of the season so far (I did not see the game in Prague). it would be difficult to point to any of our players and say they had a good game (I might make an exception for Clichy). If Diarra was that good today how come we never threatened the Wigan box let alone the goal in the first half. We could not pas the ball out of midfield! This is Arsenal!
If we play like today with the upcoming fixuers we will be lucky to get more than 10 of the available 21 points in December.
Only bright spot Bendtner made a huge difference when he came on, looked more mneacing in 10 minutes than Ade in 90.
Sorry had to get this off my chest. Probably had too many beers and will regret this in the morning when the football brains among you go to town, but i was one extremely relieved Gooner at 10 to 5.

Not a great performance, but Diarra was good, he showed strength and drive. A few of his passes went astray but he showed plenty of the good stuff. Bendtner was good, and I thought Theo did ok.
Denilson was a let down, and Toure was off form. I also thought Clichy had one of his poorer games. And Eduardo did nothing when he came on - and this after a good performance for Croatia.
There was a lack of urgency. They'll do better but it was another of those games, like the Reading game, where we plugged away until we got what we needed. I like the fact that we're scoring plenty of late goals this season, long may it continue.

I disagree with you fucking doom and gloom boys.
What do you expect when you play a team fighting in the relegation zone!
I watched the game live at the pub and although some of the passing wasnt that good and crisp like usual we still played our game, which was patiently waiting for the break to come. Wigan did the usual of most teams that come to the Emirates, ten in front of the goal one up front on the half way line. We went at them for the whole 93 minutes not accepting a draw. They were two man marking Theo and Abu which made it difficult, filling their penalty area with bodies and generally fouling anybody that started to get near the goal so stop fucking moaning about we were crap. Remember we were also without 4 of our main players. Im well pleased with the result. 2-0.
Plus the bonus of manure losing at Bolton which gives us a 3 point lead, game in hand so what more do you fucking miserable lot want.
MY ATTITUDE IS YOUR FUCKING PROBLEM

Which of Smoothy's laws is that we have to be relentlessly optimistic?
I am not whinging. I think we have done fantastically well to be where we are today having only "dropped" six points all season.
I am however worried that December will be the new November. We have seven League games in December, 5 away from home and the 2 home games are not going to be easy as someody pointed out on another thread.
Yesterday was supposed to be a chance for the "new" lads to show us what they were capable of against a dire Wigan side. It was disappointing. We might have had 70+% of the possession but we had 3 shots on target!
Even more worrying was that the established lads were poor too. Surely time to give Ade a rest when RVP comes back.
I started a thread when I first joined the forum about how difficult December is going to be and was criticised for saying I would be happy if we were second and still in touch by New Year (probably you Smoothy but I can't be bothered to go back and check). I stand by that. If I put my pessimistic head on I could see us getting 8-10 points from that lot. Yesterday's game makes me pessimistic.
If we are still in touch I think we have a good shout as we have a relatively easy run in Jan, Feb and early March.
Finally my wise 12 yo turned to me in yesterdays game and said I hope Cesc hasn't become the new Henry where we struggle if he's not playing. Rant over, Mrs Chippy just brought tea and the papers up to the bedroom so I'll chill out.

FUCKING A1 RIGHT, Belfast Boy
To say we were fucking crap insults me as a supporter. We can only play "nice football" against teams that want to play the same as us. You gotta face it 85% of the premiership are just scuttle bucket teams trying to survive so it aint gonna be pretty most of the time. And every fucker outside of the Emirates cant stand it and are praying that some shit team gets our scalp so the fucking rats can scurry out of their holes and say Whoa the Arse are on melt down. Fuck em and all the doubting thomases!
I think our team dont fear anybody and nor do I.
SO FUCKING THERE!

There is no law saying you cant say we was crap!
but look at recent games against Wigan, they all have been won in the last 15minutes. I don't care what anyone says yesterday was 3points gained and thats what counts! If we drew or lost I might agree with you but we didnt!!
I believe we could win the league this year. and winning the league you need scrappy wins and this was one of them.

we all know that teams like wigan will come and try and not be beaten badly and sometimes we find these teams hard to break down unless we get an early goal,,
i cant say we were crap because we dominated from start to finish against a struggling team,, but it doesnt help when people expect us to win every game 5-0,, its football and we wont be as fluent every week and some games its just take the 3 poins and move on,,
some gooners hav been spoilt by our football so far,,
top of the league and a game in hand is way better then i thought we would be coming into december,,
so get behind the team and lets hope december is kind to us

And where exactly have I been whinging then?TheOne2Smooth wrote:we won! my god would you rather play great football and draw or even lose? we was missing 6 key players today! This was a game we would of lost last year! maybe you could talk to TonySaunders and you can whinge and moan together!
You don't like people disagreeing with you, do you? I thought your idea that Tony Adams was the "ideal" man for England was ridiculous and now you've labeled me as a whinger.
Yeah, what a rant, eh? I'm, I'll probably get vilified for saying this because I get the feeling it's a bit of a touchy topic, but you're talking shit. If you want to talk about how amazing we are at all times, how we should never slag off any players and how Tony Adams is the "ideal" man for England, then fair play to you. I don't have digs at you for it, so for that reason, I don't expect to be labeled a whinger for voicing my point of view.tonysaunders wrote:...but I am very pleased with how we're doing, and long may it continue.
I think that if we're top in January, then people will have to start taking us seriously. Until then, let's just take it one step at a time. No one saw this magnificent start to the season coming in July, so let's just enjoy it.
Red army!
It's a discussion forum mate. People are allowed to disagree

Do you really expect us to win any game against the little team in ease? We played without our three best attacking players in Fabregas, Van-Persie and Hleb, Not to mention the fact that most of the players on the pitch yesterday, had international duties during the week. Just look at manure, who can't win because of injuries and Chelski who barely won against the worst team in the history of this league.
I am certain that the team will play much better in the next 4-6 matches and we'll be top of the league even in January.
