When was the last time...

Post by Wengerball »

Arsenal made a signing where you thought- God Im really looking forward to seeing this guy turn out for us?

For me it goes as far back as Arshavin, he looked quality at Euro 2008 and I couldnt wait to see him tearing the Prems best defences to shreds. To be fair in his first season and a half he did exactly that (who could forget the 4-4 against the bin dippers?).
His lazy attitude has caught up with him now and he just doesnt seem motivated to play for our club.

Yep it has to be arshavin. And look what a let down that has been.

Before that, Theo and he never played him.

Arshavin.

Great first half season, then seemed to lack motivation and fitness.

Arshavin, wish he was still lighting it up like he did when he arrived. That was so much fun - I hope we sign someone exciting again soon :(

Has to be Arshavin. He was brilliant in Euro 2008 and with Zenith.

Little did he know Wenger would play him out of position for all his Arsenal career. He is a 2nd striker not a winger.

I was v. excited when Nasri came too, it was either him or Ben Arfa I seem to remember.

Little did he know Wenger would play him out of position for all his Arsenal career. He is a trequartista not a winger.

Yes, Charlie would be mine as well..... I know that the world has moved on some but this was THE top player of the day choosing us over all conquering Liverpool. It also - and this might be a coincidence - marked a change of fortunes for both clubs and proved to be the catalyst that brought us 2 league titles, a european trophy and 3 domestic cups.

As a modern day equivalent it would be as if Rooney had opted to come to us rather than United!

When the news broke that we had signed Bergkamp I was literally jumping around my lounge punching the air.

The closest I got to that feeling of elation was the signing of Sol - and I took great pleasure in passing the news on to my boss a sad Tiny Tot :barscarf:

I has such high hopes for Reyes, but it wasn't to be.

Arshavin was up there as a top player with a great pedigree but not the pure joy of Berkamp.
