Strange this one. Saw the Merse criticise Wenger at half time. Then as the players were walking off he said someting along the lines of "It's time to start asking questions about the manager". Then came the ad break and then both Merse and Gary Neville said the worst thing Arsenal could do was to get rid of Wenger.

Haven't posted in a while but I've been reading everyday. Where's the Yank?? Look at the dippers and the money that has been made available to Dalglish.

Over for the Swansea game if anybody's about pre match.

You could see Merse was angry at full time. He was quality.

I heard that too but I think he meant asking questions about his tactics and selections rather than his future.

Merse slagged off Wenger for his mad tactics then let himself down by saying the worse thing we can do is to sack Wenger

Already said this that Merse changed his stance after the ad break I believe he was told to by Sky!!! Spineless *word censored*!!

Yes, couldn't understand why he seemed to contradict himself at the end, given what he had said earlier. Maybe just in the heat of the moment.

But I do think that Sky try to avoid anything controversial these days so maybe thought that having the summarisers calling for a Manager's head was a tad too far.....

Agreed mate. Merse made some good points about our deficiencies (all of which are down to Wenger) but Merse then followed up with "the worst thing we could do is get rid of Wenger". Baffling.

I can't believe that no pundits have got the bollocks to come out and say "Sorry but it's time to go Arsene. This is a long-standing problem and you are unable to address it. The Club are suffering and even though you've been brilliant, change is needed and you can't provide that change"

They all know there are major problems, they're all pointing out what those problems are, they all know that Wenger is responsible for the direction we are heading so why does no-one think he should be held accountable for our dismal performances since 2008??

Merson and Neville were quality yesterday. They both seemed quite angry that he put that team out to get battered.
Im lost for words but all I can say is that Wenger will never leave and the board wont change.
We are in freefall and this will be a very sad season for a great club.
I blame the board as much as Wenger but Wenger no longer knows how to sign quality players.
We all know he should have signed Mata and 2 new defenders but its been that way for years now.
Arshavin has been a 18 Million flop but none of us blame Wenger for that it was false advertising.

I have known Paul since I was six and he was a Chelsea fan and still is.

We also had his son Charlie as an apprentice with the company we worked for.

Thats the way it comes off to me, he is Chelsea fan, but an Arsenal man as well.

I know he gets alot of stick for the Chelsea thing, but I've never seen him overly biased to them in fact the bloke ie yesterday seems to hurt badly when Arsenal lose.

Anyway top man either way. Hear his book is a good read as well.

I'm starting to lose a lot of respect for ex-players who are defending the manager and saying that he should stay.

Over the last 24 hours, that list includes: Paul Merson, Lee Dixon, George Graham, Frank McLinktock and Stewart Robson (who hasn't got any respect to lose, but still).

Based on his comments on ESPN during the Emirates Cup coverage, you can probably add Martin Keown to that list. And even TH14 has said that AW is the best man for the job.

My guess is that because they played under AW at such a successful and happy time - and the fact that he gave many of them the opportunities - they are eternally-grateful for what he has done for them in the past and dare say a bad word about him.

Merson gets his licks in, as AW sold him soon after his arrivial, but still toes the line because his fellow professionals and Arsenal alumni would slate him for it.

So my question is, who will be the first ex-player to come out and call for his head?
