Charity Request

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Charity Request

Post by storrmin571 »

Hello all,

A team of Fire-fighters from South Wales are taking 11 fire engines to Serbia. The Fire Engines have had a long active service in South Wales, and we are now donating them to our colleagues in Serbia.

The Team will leave for Belgrade in October this year, and will be driving from Caerphilly through France. Slovakia and Hungary etc to get to Belgrade.

It will cost £2500 per fire engine to get them over to Belgrade, where they will go back again "on the run" to provide probably another 20 years of active service.

When I was over there last they had fire engines from the 1950s still working on the frontline. We have already taken over hydraulic rescue gear for use in road accidents, chemical protection suits there were only 6 in the country until we took over our old stuff. Breathing apparatus, old fire kit etc.

We are looking for some donations if anyone can spare anything it will be gladly received. If you work for a large company then we can arrange sponsorship of one of the fire engines.

Link to website for donations.

Thanks to DB10 for allowing this request.

thanks for reading and hopefully dipping in pockets.

Me and a few mates are doing a charity event....

We are donating free IT lessons to the Welsh population. Last time we went over to Wales, they were still using carrier pigeons to "text" each other. There was also string everwhere, which I am reliably informed is their telephone network.

Please donate whatever you can.

A very worthy cause so I'm making this a sticky while the fundraising is going on. As we have a lot of stickies at the moment I'll release the Guitarist thread (TEMPORARILY Spuddy  ) to make room.

Thanks - would it be worth writing to Arsenal to see if they can donate any memorabilia to auction? Cardiff City are donating a signed ball so far and may get some more goodies from them.

Worth a try but didn't they recently tell someone off here to fuck off after a similar request? Maybe mention the Cardiff City donation and they might feel they have to do something...

Try Swansea, Chelsea (seems to have no relation but to be fair they are top notch when it comes to charity work, I live quite close and their efforts are sterling, I guess it might explain why I don't really hate em any more), WRU, maybe Ospreys/Cardiff Blues/Scarlets?

Blues have done some stuff, also Penderyn Welsh Whiskey, GEAS Caerphilly and others.
