Players making a mockery out of Wenger, fans hoodwinked

Post by Babatunde »

You know, it's funny. It's funny because every time Arsenal have a player and that player is obviously a player blessed with talent - but that player is being let down by a shocking manager and coaching structure, fans never ever see it.

I will give you the examples of three players: Samir Nasri, Cesc Fabregas and Clichy.

I don't know if any of you watched Gael Clichy in action for Man City yesterday. Clichy was imperious, he must have delivered about four outstanding crosses in the first half alone. On his defensive side Clichy has been disciplined in every match he has played. I don't see any lapses in concentration anymore and he seems focused on defending. How can a player who so many Arsenal fans have claimed to be toilet, become such a transformed player in the space of a few months?

Look at Nasri. We keep hearing that Nasri didn't create enough at Arsenal and was average. Yet in the space of just 130 minutes, Nasri has made more assists than he did in any entire season at Arsenal. Nasri works hard, he is motivated against teams like Wigan. Yet does anyone remember Wenger's quote from two seasons ago when he said of Nasri:

'Samir has problems motivating himself against smaller teams'.

This is a manager openly admitting that a trophyless player has problems motivating himself in certain games. Yet he would keep picking the player.
How has Mancini been able to get more out of Nasri in 130 minutes than Wenger has in 3/4 years?

Then there's Fabregas. We keep being told that his hamstrings are dodgy. Certain Arsenal fans will also tell you that Fabregas wasn't scoring enough and had a diminished goal threat. Yet, over the past 2 and a half matches alone, Fabregas has been one of Barca's biggest goal threats. And you can bet your bottom dollar Fabregas won't be as mishandled. Tactically, Fabregas has already shown far more defensive awareness, he is making far more darting diagonal runs than I ever saw him make at Arsenal and is far more lethal going forward.

How can Pep Guardiola be making Fabregas so much more effective when he has only had the player for a few weeks?

Wenger's shocking incompetent management is being exposed rather fast by better managers. Forget the mere quality of players around Nasri and Fabregas. Just in terms of pure TACTICAL set-up, Nasri now has a position that is getting the best out of him, he is floating between the wing and the centre-forward. Fabregas is now making use of a part of his game that we haven't seen for about three years. Clichy looks like a very competent defender and when you compare that to the comical Gibbs it's a joke.

I will repeat it: Wenger is tearing this club apart. It's down to him and his stubborn arrogant incompetence. Until you vote with your feet, this will continue.

Stop paying for mediocrity. If you want to get rid of this arse hole, stop paying to watch work-shy mercenaries of bog standard abuse the shirt.

Where are all those who said Cesc would be warming the bench at Camp Nou?

Clichy is playing with players that know how to defend and in a team that work hard on defending and have a manager that loves a clean sheet,we have a manager who thinks we can outscore every team we play and clearly doesn't work on defending in training.

Cesc is obviously going to try a lot harder for barca as he loves the club and grew up there etc etc not only that he's got to try and get in their team ahead of iniesta and xavi whereas as arsenal even if he wasn't 100 percent he played and had muppets like rosicky, denilson etc to compete against

As for nasri I aggree with the fact that he's playing where he's most effective but if I got a new job on double the dosh I'd probably work abit harder.

I'm not defending wenger as I think he's holding us back but you can't blame the nutty proffessor for everything.

The myth that Wenger develops young talent is being exposed.

- Nasri was established in France when we signed him. He regressed at Arsenal.
- Arshavin - hero in Euro 2008 and brilliant in his first half-season. Then Wenger got hold of him..........
- Walcott....hasn't developed at all.
- Clichy....got worse every season he was at the Club.
- Fabregas...was always top drawer. He didn't need to be taught anything. His motivation went at the end when he realised he was surrounded by shite.
- Song....decent DCM at one point, then Wenger asked him to get forward more???!
- Djourou..looked ok at times, he has collapsed. Looks worse than Squillaci.
- I'm just waiting for Wilshere and Ramsey to become the new Denilson.
- Gervinho... likes an early shot from outside the box. This will be coached out of him by Christmas.

We will finish 7th or 8th this season. Mark my words. We are absolutely shite.

You sure? behind who exactly? 1. ManUre 2. Chelsea 3. Citeh 4. Liverpool 5. Sp*rs 6. ??? 7. ???

Eveton? Villa? Stoke?? which 2 clubs are you thinking of? - personally, I don't think you REALLY believe we'll finish that low down and are just being over the top so your opinion stands out from the crowd.

So, I'll take that bet if you want, Frank. £50? £100?? that Arsenal finish top 6.

Personally, I think we're nailed on for a fight with Liverpool and Sp*rs for 4th-6th position. All 3 clubs will lose too many to catch the top 3, but will win too many for the other clubs to catch them. At the moment, I'd say 5th would be par for this side.

 but yesterday's team wouldn't beat Stoke, Everton or Villa.

True

We'll improve... I hope :? not enough to fight for the title though; you'd have to be insane (or Wenger) to think we're in a title race this season

After the results of the season so far I wouldn't even call it a fight.

The team coming in 4th could very well do so because the other two literally give it away.

Christ we've fallen some way haven't we?

Agreed, it could a rather lame 'battle' for 4th. We'll drop a hat full of points this season, and will probably be 20-30pts adrift of the eventual champions.

As a club, we're sinking like a stone at the moment and the management don't seem to be doing anything about it.... apart from raise ticket prices and make ANOTHER huge profit in the transfer market, of course . :?

More than the positions that Cesc and Nasri are playing in their respective teams, it is the quality of players around them that is reason of their sparkling performances this season. The pressure is off and they are playing more freely, they know that there are world class players around them to share the creative responsibility.

We wasted a player like Cesc by giving him the likes of Diaby, Denilson, Bendtner etc to play alongside.

I'll take that bet at £50. However, the condition is that Wenger is in charge for the whole season.

They've only played 2-4 games for their new clubs. A big pay raise and playing with much better quality team mates, generally brings out the best in good players. Cesc, Nasri and Gael are not expected to lead, guide or be the focus of the team, leading a bunch of teenagers to play against men. Less pressure on them to look after the younger players, more time to focus on their own game. If we had the quality striker of Dzeko, Aguero then maybe Nasri would've had more assists last season.
