Ok, so none of us enjoy seeing our team lose, especially when they have been on a long unbeaten run, you almost forget what defeat tastes like. Hopefully the next one will be another 7 months away.
There were positives to take away from the game though that could help us achieve our ultimate goals this season.
1. Bendtner showed just what a great prospect he is. He held the ball up well, was clever with the ball at his feet and set up our goal with a lovely pass. If that performance is the sign of things to come then Adebayor is going to need to be on his toes. This can only be good for the club.
2. Big Phil's performance will hopefully finalise in AW's mind the need to get a centre-back in the January window. I have supported Phil in the past but he makes 2 to 3 mistakes in every game and its just a case of whether they get punished or not. I had high hopes, but its just not happened for him. The hand ball was the final straw.
3. I accept he hasn't had much football but Gilberto lsadly looked totally out of his depth in the current side, where they all display such composure on the ball. Even aside from his passing and ball control his ability to "fill in" and break up play was severely lacking.
This should cement in AW's mind that trading in Gilberto in January would benefit everyone concerned.
4. Trying to see the positives from another cringing performance from Eboue but i'm not a miracle worker !!.
Positive Lessons Learnt ....
Eboue is starting not to utterly suck on the ball, Almunia will hopefully be dropped, Big Phil and Gilberto got vital game time so hopefully they will be in better shape for their next game, Hoyte got a game, Traore got experience, Dudu looks like a goal scoring threat, we will now know if the team can bounce back or if we will collapse.

He made one good save to be fair but other then that, played badly. Beat one effort straight to Kaoute who missed, was so utterly annoyed with his attempt to save the penalty, never came to help the defence or seem capable or getting them organised and wasn't too happy with his effort for the first one.EdgeOfTown wrote:whats with the stick for Almunia? did I miss him do anything wrong last night or is this a continuation of the "Isn't good enough" debate?
just need to know..

First goal I blame the defence 100%. If you're gonna give someone that sort of room in the box, you'll be punished (unless its against us of course..). It was also through a crowd of players and right in the corner.
I understand the one where he parried it out into the penalty area but the pen was just a case of Kanoute waiting for him to commit and sliding it in..he'll do that to better keepers..

It wasn't in the corner, it was powerful but not that accurate, I honestly thought he should have got to it but that is my opinion.EdgeOfTown wrote:First goal I blame the defence 100%. As for the penalty, Almunia hardly threw himself across when committing himself, going the wrong way is understandable but at least most keepers dive when doing that.
