Betting on the Arse

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Betting on the Arse

Post by Charlie! Charlie! »

Has anyone ever bet on the opposition? I WOULD NEVER!!
During our first season at the Grove we were prone to falling behind in the odd game! Me and my mate always have a first scorer bet and it just lead me to think has anyone ever bet on another team to score first or win if you thought it was the most likely outcome?

I know a fella who bet on Anelka to score against us first last season and made a few quid - I would rather sleep on the streets! :?

what about exact scores
I was gonna put Gallas first scorer 1-0 on the wigan game
glad I didn't or superToms goal would not have been as fun

No just if you had any outcome that we didnt win, so Gallas first scorer and 2-1 wigan or something :oops: Would be huge odds! 8)

Not that I've ever done it, but it's crossed my mind;

Going in to a game against a weaker side away from home who we should beat but you've got a sneaky feeling we might lose (in the case of this season for me, West Ham) you put money on the weaker side to win, thus you're in a win-win situation.

Your thoughts.

I would never bet against Arsenal. I did have £2 on Gallas first goal @ 20-1 against Wigan though ! :wink:

same here..I've never bet against Arsenal, and dont really even bet ON Arsenal, but if I ever was to bet, I'd have a punt on Sunderland/Derby beating us..its the only way you'll get decent enough odds for you're money..then if we lose, its shit but you get a payout. If we win, its all good!!

I would never bet on Arsenal to win. Same way I wont have any Arsenal players in my fantasy football team. I think I'm the kiss of death. Any player I put in my team is sure to get a broken leg within a week. Once at Man City I was going to put a bet on Cashly Hole for 1st and last goal scorer cos odds were good. There was a que so I didn't bother. He scored the only goal.. Gutted.
But I have never bet on the other team.

Seeing as you're the kiss of death, would you mind betting on all of our opponents for the rest of the season, please?

I usually do a correct score bet when I go to matches. The worst thing is when you predict an outcome where the other team scores, as you sit there secretly hoping they pull one back. Same thing as when we score as many as I predict, then every attack I'm thinking "please put it wide". I'm trying to stop betting on Arsenal games as I stop enjoying them worrying about the bet.
