Bad News for Boxing! £10 a month......

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Bad News for Boxing! £10 a month......

Post by northbankbren »

Frank Warren looks set to pull the plug on his sky deal and a press conference is set for tomorrow for a "big announcment".

Its just his IT lads have jumped the gun a bit, and put it on the web. Many of you with sky have probably noticed the box-nation channel on sky which has been showing loads of old warren shows. Its being turned into a subscription channel at £10 a month, and will feature all warrens cards, as well as a host of american/european fights.

The shedule is here
http://www.boxnation.tv/schedule.php

Fights that would have been on sky. But it seems skys unwillingness to push boxing has made warren go it alone. Froch will be sky's big name, as it seems manny pacquaio fight will be ppv on primetime.

This will give the sport even less coverage and exposure, and in my opinion is bad for the sport.

It also means we have to shell out more and more for Boxing.

Sky, Warren's Channel, Primetime etc.

Personally Io think more people will use illicit internet streams.

cancelling sky sports anyway just not worth the money

no footie from Jun to Aug, and Arsenal are only on a 10 to 12 times a season and with the boxing going

what is there left to watch, WWE and Cricket - you can fuck right off SKY

Aye, thats pretty much how I feel. Used to have Sky Sports but got rid of it at the end of the season, telling myself that it was just to save money over the summer and that I'd get it back when the season started.

Then the fixtures came out. Before December, Sunderland are on Sky or ESPN twice (was only once when fixtures were initially announced). Norwich away on Monday, and the Arsenal away game has been added. I then realised that the PL is a closed shop- one of Man Utd, Chelsea or Man City will win the league, its actually probably down to just one of the manchester clubs and, tbh, i couldnt care less. Their games tend to be one sided so not worth watching, they're on tele every fucking week and the other games (fulham v blackburn etc) are almost always dull as fuck and they dont matter, since neither side will do anything.

Then theres the CL, dull as fuck int he group stage as all the big clubs go through as always.

The only time Sky Sports is worth anything like the ridiculous amounts they charge is for a few months at the end of the season when the CL knockout starts (even then the second round is normally shit) and the relegation battle is decided, along with the football league playoffs. The rest of the time it quite simply isnt worth the money.

I enjoy watching big boxing fights and that as well, but they're always on Box Office anyway.

This season I've just subscribed to liveonlinefooty- £6 for 2 months and I get almost all the saturday 3pm kickoffs as well as all the sky games and the big boxing fights. Yes the quality isnt as good, but most matches i just watch in the background anyway, i dont really need it to be absolutely spot on and having it spot on isnt worth about £30 more a month for less games

Sky will be putting more and more people off with their pricing like. Plus you have to pay extra for HD which is a joke, just another charge for the hell of it. Fuck them

No, you dont. I got rid of Sky Sports at the end of last season but because I still have the news package, I still get SSN.
