Matchday Scarfs

Matchday Scarfs

Post by arsenalmorris »

Just wondering if anyone knows the reason that the club have started releasing match day scarfs for home games in the premier league now besides the make money part of it.

And why have there been some for some game (Swansea and Sunderland) but not others like Liverpool and Bolton

Yep, £$£$£$£$£

There are now a sh*t load of foreigners going to games I've noticed. Past 2 home games, nearly everyone around me was either German or Korean/Chinese, so they've realised, if they're there for one game, they can make a mint on momento's! Nothing against foreign support at all btw

I suppose we are just going to have to get used to the idea that these foreign day-trippers from Europe and Asia (that might only get to Arsenal once in their life time and are as likely to support manure or the chavs next year or the year after) are now a key consideration for our club. These fans will spend a fortune in the club shops and on stadium tours and on food in the ground.

I've nothing against them in theory, but it is getting more and more obvious that these "customers" and "consumers" are what the modern game is being aimed at.

It gets worse, there is actually a green screen in the Armoury and you can have your picture holding up the aforementioned scarf :barscarf: , superimposed onto a picture of the inside of the stadium (where you are probably heading into!)

Not sure how much this costs......

 aye, its totally aimed at the ever increasing tourist market. For many clubs the proper support is getting priced out/ sick of the PL shite but they are replaced by (generally) foreign lads who are on a day trip. They'll get the half and half scarf to "remember" the day. As DB10 says, thats basically who football is being aimed at nowadays, its all about making as much money as possible and the club will make a killing from these shite scarves. Can't really blame a lad who has come on holiday from Korea or somewhere for wanting a scarf from the match, but you do wish these people would realise that they are a major part of the problem and are helping to kill the thing they are supposedly keen to support

I would only buy one of these as a memento from a Euro away, never wear it, and defo not buy it if we were playing the pseudo-Manc filth, Murderers or Chavs.
